All of these are in your face signs, why would anyone call the media liberal?

Our media is conservative-biased.
But if conservatives scream and shout enough, they'll convince some that the media has a liberal-bias.
Conservatives can't intelligently debate issues, so they bring on babble-heads whose rude, obnoxious, grating behavior only intimidates, manipulates, and brainwashes people. So 'ditto heads' listen to drug-infested cretins like Rush Limbaugh and swallow all the spoon-fed pabulum that Fox "News" presents... and a preponderance of unthinking, brainless dolts follow along like sheep.
The conservative-biased media is nothing more than a Nazi-inspired propaganda machine designed to spread bigotry, hatred, half-truths, outright lies, slander, and filth about anyone who has an opposing viewpoint or different opinion.
As this garbage continues to be spewed across the airwaves, it's only a matter of time before conservatives will convince a sizeable proportion of our population that it's 'acceptable' to torture, abuse, or even kill anyone they don't "like": including (but not necessarily limited to) Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, non-Christians, liberals, African-Americans, Hispanics, illegal immigrants, homeless veterans, women, low-incomed families, welfare recipients, mentally retarded, the aged and sick, or anyone else who doesn't fit their conservative profile. -RKO-

The government doesn't control the media. It works with the media. Look into Operation/Project Mockingbird. The big corporate conglomerates that now control the media in America have been working with the government for years. It's called the Strategy of Confusion. They based the whole idea on the two-party political system: good vs. bad.....Pro-Bush or Anti-Bush. Using this method, they are able to control most of the information the sheep minded Middle Class consume. The FCC allowed Murdoch to buy both papers and televised media stations, in contravention of their own rules. Simply wait, as every day classified documents are declassified, and the truth will eventually escape. Hopefully during my lifetime.

I draw no conclusion that the media is controlled by either the "liberal left" or by the government. Agreed, both sides do attempt to control public opinion and their issues are reported in the media. But this is very different than actually controlling the media.

For the most part, all sides are heard and many issues do go unreported. But this is not because the media is controlled.

I have no idea why people would say the "liberal media" as it's not very liberal if you're talking about the big news corps that you mentioned.

I think it's just the times we live in where any view that fosters a healthy society is considered left or liberal or whatever other label.

I don't call those big companies liberal media. I take everything they say with a grain of salt, as with any other source of news.

They are not owned by the Government. But Government must allow for the media. The "Fourth Estate" is a way to exersize "freedom of speach". It was origionally intended to keep our Government "honest."
However,,,,, the opposite is more true. FOX news comes closer than the others. But, sad but true, our media has been taken over by the Elite population. More commonly known as Communist. They think they know how better to spend our money, tell us what to eat, drink, where to live, how many children to have, educate our children......

Because the message put out by the media is controlled not by the government, but by the companies that put out those messages.

It's important to remember that the majority of people who go into journalism as a carreer, or start media companies, happen to be liberals. They report according to their own values.

think if any one who speaks out is called liberal media, I think is pretty safe to say that at least Fox and ABC are very pro Bush,
One of the definitions of liberal is......Broadly speaking, contemporary liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, [citation needed]limitations on power, especially of government......... (what above has changed lately) So I think it would be safe to say that anybody who doesn't believe in the above, would be against them.
Do liberals have there extremist, yes they do, and the world can do with out them, but also liberals stand up for freedom of religion, enforcing the right to due process and a fair trial, and freedom of speech which is what the backbone of what America is. Can all of the above be taken advantage of, yes, but what is the alternative? No one looking after our rights in that area, I do think the Media that is Conservative will try to make the Liberal look bad, You don't think the Conservatives can screw things up, or have there extremist that we could do with out, normally in a balanced Government with both Parties in control somewhat, the extreme left will cancel out the extreme right and you meet in the middle, I don't think its like that any more. I do think we 90% of us have a little bit of both in us, Go by the person and what they have done, not by the Party, Parties change. I just think is so dumb to follow any political party BLINDLY

Yes, I'm sure Bush controls the media... is that why there are daily articles and editorials in nearly every paper demonizing him? LMAO.

The only media outlet on your list that could be referred to as non-liberal would be FOX News.

it helps the Cons steer public debate on issues their way; rather than allow true middle ground, they paint the middle ground as "extreme" on the other side, making your side seem closer to "the middle."

If the Cons really believed in the "liberal" media; wouldn't they be pushing for breaking up the oligarchy of three or four companies that control most of it?

No - because anything they don't want to hear they can blame on the "liberal" media, while the big issues they don't want aired (like elecytion fraud) get covered up, as media outlets fear being labeleld as even more "liberal."

The "liberal" media myth has become so prevalent, tho, that it's no longer questioned in some circles. It it were, it would crumble.

The media is not owned by the government. They are owned by corporations, like Disney and General Electric, who use their "media power" to advance their corporate interests.

What the government does do that is against free media is to limit access to reporters and stations that are critical of their policies.

“The biases the media has are much bigger than conservative or liberal. They're about getting ratings, about making money, about doing stories that are easy to cover.” Al Franken
