of course, use the eye drops. and try to put a warm towel over her eye at times to help with the swelling. also, the warm water will help with the gunk that gets on and in the eye. if she's in daycare, you should get used to this. i'd also try to mention to some of the moms and get them to mention it to some of the moms...it'll just get passed back to her unless the moms get together and quarantine the one who has it until its gone.

if you're having trouble with the drops, try turning thier head so the tear ducts are above the eye and drop the drop there. it will drain down over thier eyelids along the lash line. some will get to the eye even if most drains off onto the floor. this worked for mine.

Perhaps the cause of the conjunctivitis isn't bacterial. There are other forms of conjuctivitis besides this. And it's possible that this isn't conjunctivitis. If your doctor won't run a culture to determine the causative agent then see an ophthalmalologist. An optometrist is for vision. I also agree in part with "KW". Discard all eye makeup and replace it every 3 months. Bacteria builds up in it. Avoid eye makeup for now.

Yes my son went through this put the drops in and in short time they will look better, and infection will be gone. The puffy eyes will subside in a day or so after starting the drops.

My daughter got pink eye her first time at 7 months old. Then following that was an ear infection (brought on by the pink eye).

Keep your eye out for her not sleeping at night and digging at her ears and such.

Deep breath mom... my dauhgter is now 22 months old had pink eye last week and a double ear infection this week. Oh the joys! :)

That is completely normal. My daughter now 7 used to have it all the time, the fact that they touch everything and then scratch their eyes is inevitable. Just try to keep her hands clean(very hard)or simply keep and eye on her. Also some kinds of colds are reflected through nose, ears and eyes. This happens when the congestion is a little out of control. There are wonderful medicines for these if U see that 1 doesn't work try another one till u see results .Good luck.

I just did!! But my little guy is 21 months old. I posted a question on how to get those drops in!! It will clear up.
If you are breastfeeding you can put some breastmilk in her eye, it is full of anti bodies and works great!!
Good luck!

ps - the drops cleared up his eye immediately but when he started to have goop and rubbing his eyes again, I put a drop of breastmilk in his eyes and it cleared right up!!
Of course, I agree with those who stated the need to keep hands, linens, etc...clean.

pull her lower lid down and place the drops on the lower lid. Its easier than holding her eye open.

It'll pass. Its just a minor infection.

It is a pain in the butt though!

I read somewhere that pink eye can go away on its own.

Be very careful you don't get it yourself. Pinkeye is VERY contagious!! Keep giving her the drops from the doctor and WASH your hands!!

Yes, that was the worse. My son hated them, so I had to choose a time close to when he was asleep, and i would put them in, while he was asleep and calm. Try it!!
