The question is where can you afford to live?
Somewhere that massive numbers of service worker. I would have to say Florida off the top of my head. With the massive building going on in new areas it seems to me they are in live for massive service industries. Car shops, grocery stores, air conditioning repair, roofers, landscapers, all city services, whatever.
My brother did just that 30 years ago and went to work for the city DPW planting palm trees every where and well as clean up after storms, etc. He cut lawns for little old ladies in his neighborhood too. He had a good life, no hassles and retired at 60 with a city pension and medical coverage and now drives a school bus and loves it. So, head for a warm climate and best of luck.

You did not specify if you are male or female, and I would have a different answer accordingly, so, for both sexes, the first thing I would say is that you need more education and/or training. Baltimore is a nice place to live, with all levels of income and education. Apply for a job at one of the colleges and then take advantage of their free or low cost/liberal term tuition. Every minute you spend to train or receive education, will be paid back to you in months of increased pay and self esteem. Don't put it off a second. Look into it right now. If you are male, consider becoming an electrician or plumber's helper. You will make a small wage, but more importantly, you will be training for a career. Throughout this process, make sure your "inner voice" NEVER says "this is too hard - I can't do this" but insteadsays "It's going to be great. I can do this. Disassociate any naysayers or negative people from your life and picture yourself in the role you want. This is your life and your shot to make something of yourself. use your time wisely - you can never get it back. Take care and good luck. If you ever get discouraged, pretend that you are a younger person who needs help and it is up to you to help them stay focused and on track YOU CAN DO THIS!!! rEMEMBER THERE IS PRIDE AND VALUE IN EVERY JOB AS LONG AS YOU DO IT WELL. Remember that it isn't so much where you are physically (locale)as where you are mentally(state of mind). Believe in yourself!!!!

Manufacturing Jobs generally pay pretty well (at least in Kentucky - starting at around $13 an hour), if you can handle the mindless tedium.
I've worked as a "Service/Sales Phone Rep" for Citibank (also in Kentucky) and that started at around $10 an hour, with opportunities for commissions (if you're a really good salesperson and can make quota). That job also had advancement opportunities - they usually promote from within at the call centers. I hated the job, but then I'm not good selling people things they don't need/can't use. I've seen guys with a high school education who made more in commissions than they made in base salary there, though (over $40,000 a year).
I've also worked at a day labor place for $6 an hour - when I was laid off as a software developer - and while it's not great, it was fun for the few weeks I did it.
There's GE's appliance park in Louisville, Toyota down in Georgetown, Citibank in Northern Kentucky, all sorts of manufacturing throughout the state, and some of the most beautiful horses and fastest women in the nation!

Have you considered Network Marketing? It is a great way to earn money working from your own home as your own boss. Ever heard of Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad? He has another book called "The Business School" and he talks a lot about network marketing strategies and getting on the right side of the cash flow quadrant. That's what I did when I started my own business at http://www.mywayoutonline.com/ access code 108306 that is a new division of a billion-dollar international company that is listed on the New York Stock exchange. If you have a big enough dream, you can achieve anything :)
Good luck on your endeavor!
PS: One thing though.....it's NOT a get rich quick business....building a business takes time from 24-36 months...if you're not serious enough, then don't bother with the site. If you are serious and you're willing to work at it....check it out.

I dont think there is any particular place that is better than anywhere else. You didn't mention what kind of work you will look for or what kind of experience you already have. For instance, if you have restaurant experience I'd suggest a larger city, if you have construction experience I'd suggest a growing area or an area that is rebuilding from a storm etc. Maybe you could write a bit more abut what field you will try to work in.

Goat is incredibly the main ate up meat in the international. there are various reasons for this. could you be much less offended in the event that they have been killing cows? Chickens? be a card dealer or bartender at any casino you can- vegas, atlantic city, florida, iowa, they are everywhere
security is another field you could try if you are into that stuff
drive a semi and you can call almost anywhere home and go out for a few weeks and make good money
construction, masonary, welding, electricity, and plumbing are all skilled jobs that you can make very good money at- get into an apprenticeship to earn your way up
mechanics is another skilled industry, you could get a sanitation license and work as a chef
operate heavy machinery- bulldozers, backhos, scrapers, etc.
look for state or government guys and make bucko bucks laying highway or fixing bridges
work in a factory and try to join a union for the benefits
look at major job boards, like careerbuilder, craigslist, hotjobs, monster, etc.

I live in Raleigh, NC and it is a very diverse area to work in. One of the most popular areas of work is in the construction business. There are a ton of builders, electricians, mechanics, etc. looking to hire skilled men and women...and not so much looking at the education part...experience is preferred. It is also a great way to "move up" in the work place. Because construction is so multi-faceted (supervisors, project managers, estimators, etc.), there is always room to be promoted and to enjoy extra pay to live a relaxing and enjoyable lifestyle. Good luck in your search.

As for the best place to earn income - where you are at. Don't go chasing rainbows until you know how to make rain. If you ain't making it there why go else where?
Ordinary people can make it any where if they are willing to learn what works to their benefit.
Should you care for info our associates get to change their lifes, touch base with me.
