It sounds to me like you may have a problem with authority in general. Government specifically is a way to protect people from themselves. If we didn't have government, life would be fraught with vigilantism and street justice (if that). A properly running government won't run people's lives, but will still be involved enough to protect them from invaders, famine and illness.

That kind of teacher has nothing to do with the "government." They are protected by the unreasonable teachers' unions. Go read about the "Dark Ages" and you will see why government is necessary.
When you have a teacher like that, listen, read, give them the answers they want to hear - whether you agree, or not. Keep your mouth shut and keep a low profile in that class. Some of these teachers are extremely angry, frustrated people. They are expected to keep order, work hard, and follow ten thousand rules, all for very bad pay.
Good luck!

- Yes, a government is essential to avoid social chaos but it need not be a big one!
- You might be able to do better in your course by keeping abreast of political developments within and outside the country, which can be achieved by closely following the TV news and reading a daily newspaper! This way you can understand the theory better and how it is reflected in the contemporary politics!

A lot of people tried to get rid of the government but so far no one succeeded.
In Communist Society there WILL be no governments but it is only a fantasy.
When people are stiriving to fill their stomach, who is willing to volonteer themselves to the management of public.

Government is pretty boring to study, i'll grant you that, but look at history, the civil war era is really neat to study as is english history (Henry the 8th era, etc.). =) Look at some books about Mary Queen of Scots, Henry the 8th, to get you movitated again.

Government is an activity undertaken by human beings. If their excellences make government possible, their failings make it necessary.
