I am going to my husbands Christmas party at work and want a pair of knee high boots to wear. It is hard for me to find a pair of shoes I really like and I found these and they are just perfect, I just don't know if the heel is too high. Are 5 inch heels too high to wear to a company Christmas party? I don't want to look like a stripper. I want to look sexy and classy at the same time. Here is the link to the boots.

I have already looked into zappos. I did see a pair in there that I liked a lot, but they were $500. Call me cheap, but I really don't want to spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes and that pair was the only ones I liked on that site.

My first inclination was that, provided you can stand and walk properly in them, five inch heels are okay. (Remember that the natural pose imposed by such heels, is to throw your breast forward and your bottom back. You need to be able, with practice, to adopt an upright position.)

BUT, re-reading your question, my opinion changed. It is a party at your husband's workplace. Unless you are known to all concerned already, what kind of impression are you actually giving? And it your husband, not you, that will be the brunt of any post-party comments.

So, on balance, whereas you may well be able to wear the 5" high-heel boots with sophistication, I would suggest wearing a pair of 4" high-heel shoes instead. These will still look sexy and classy.

As a compromise, you might want to arrive/leave in the boots, as the weather outside would dictate boots rather than the shoes. But, make sure you leave the boots in the cloakroom with your coat.

Have a good time

Those particular boots are way too stripper-esque. Try finding a soft leather pair with a shorter heel. The wife of a man I work with wore some to our party last year and looked great. She had on a black, knee-length skirt and red sweater.

Sounds wonderful-classy, attractive and a little sexy, too. Post a pix! Have fun! And BTW- Ignore the negative comments about the boots. You can wear pumps any other time of the year. Flip flops? Ugh.

I was leaning towards high-heeled boots being okay so long as the rest of your outfit was fairly posh and conservative -- cashmere or wool turtleneck, not _too_ tight, with a not-too-short wool skirt, say -- but those boots aren't 'classy'; there's just no way to de-stripper-ize 5" heels with platforms.

Decent example of 'classy' and 'sexy':

You don't want to give people something _too_ interesting to talk about...

I like them and I would wear them, but it depends on what you are going to wear with them. If it is a black leather dress then no maybe not but if it is something classy then go for it. Do your hair classy and your makeup and jewelry subdued and I don't think you will look like a stripper at all.

I think they are a bit much. Not just for the heel height, but the platform too.
Try a 4" heel or lower, and skip the platform for added height. Make sure it's a matte finish, not shiny.

You might want to consider adding some kind of decoration(s) for a more fashionable, less stripper-looking boot.

For your husbands work party, yes. Waay too high. Try Zappos.com, you may be able to find something more reasonable there.
