I am 14 weeks now but had a bit of a false dawn at 11 weeks when I thought my energy levels were back to normal, only to find they weren't! Now though, this past week I've been much better, i.e. not needing a nap as soon as I get in from work or heading off to bed at 8pm! I don't remember having this urge to sleep with my first pregnancy but I'm looking forward to 3 or 4 months when energy levels are normal again.
I also found that my whole digestive system really slowed down (almost like the peristalsis had stopped) although I wasn't constipated it could mean 3 days between visits to the loo and that also made me feel really sluggish. That's passed now too and it helps.
Good luck to you. You'll hopefully not have too long to wait until you feel better.

I napped every day of my pregnancy because i was always tired too. altho i'm still like that now over 2 years later! perhaps i should see a doctor!

anyway, some people stop feeling as tired in the 2nd trimester when they get a new lease of life and then again sometimes towards the end of the 3rd trimester with a nesting instinct (at 8 mo's i found myself up a ladder cleaning windows. still not sure why i'd want to do that!!!)

everyone is different but if you can nap when you can. you're going to need all your strength next year!

good luck!

every pregnancy is different. I am at 25 weeks and still need a nap............ Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

You poor thing, I am about the same and have a scan tomorrow to confirm my dates and I feel like pants. I already have two kids, the youngest of which is 14 months old so no naps in the day for me, I seem to remember feeling completely better by 14 weeks with those 2 so hopefully it will pass soon. Good luck with everything. Beck

Our daughter is 9 months old and I'm still exhausted!

Really, though, the feeling of fatigue that you're having should ease up a bit in the second trimester and then come back with a vengence during your third. Your body is working very hard right now building that little life inside you! Let your body take the rest that it needs and don't fight the naps too much. If you nap when you feel the need, then you could feel more productive during your awake time. (This is something that helped me tremendously.)

Good luck.

First of all congratulations and respect. Being a mother is the best thing that can happen to women.

U dont know how lucky u r as you still getting your sleep. Sleeping at this time, even a bit, is good luck. At this time hormones are all over your body and engineering the best system in the world...human being.

Since you are getting your sleep, the rest u need to do is to manage proper diet which is rich in iron. Check your iron level to confirm that u r not anemic. Never forget ur folic acid. Eat at least one banana a day.

Since u got very little to do about tiredness physically, u have to do it mentally. Enjoy ur pregnancy, be proud of it, study, sing and watch beautiful things.

Good luck.

Usually the tiredness will be considerably reduced after the first trimester. However you must remember that your body is now doing work all the time taking care of your baby, so even when you are sitting idle, your body is doing a lot of work.
It is important for you to sleep and give your body a good rest, and the right nutrition, this will help reduce the effect after a while and you will start feeling better as you enter your second trimester which for most women is the most active and fun part of their pregnancy.

Well, my daughter was 9 months old, and I still was tired.....does that help? lol, get used to the feeling, I had it the entire pregnancy and then the new baby just takes everything out of you. Now my daughter is 12 months and I am 3 months pregnant. But my hubby is starting to help more. Umm, try eating some more healthy calories during the day for a boost. Some fruit, or meat and cheese snacks for protein. It might help you out some without wrecking your whole pregnancy diet.

I used to come home from work at 6pm and sleep until the next day and do it all over again. The tiredness will last all 40 weeks. Although some women get some relief in their second trimester. Try to get as much sleep as you can now because after the baby is born, it'll be difficult to get a few hours.

I'm not sure, you should really see a doctor, but it sounds a little like your blood sugar is still too low. You need to eat something more than just mashed potatoes. If you have hypoglycemia, your body is producing too much insulin. You need some protein or gluten. Try some cheese sticks or even some meat and a slice of bread. Some orange juice might help as well. All else fails, see a doctor at once!
