Halloween III: Season of the Witch. I didn't like it when I first saw it, but now I love watching it, especially coming up to Halloween like now. "Three more days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Three more days to Halloween, Silver Shamrock."

Depends on what does scare you, and (since you're 17) how much investment you have in not being scared. I found Blair Witch Project to be one of the most frightening things I've ever seen, but I was willing to immerse myself in the situation. The Saw films are genuinely tense, which might work for you. And there are a number of films (mostly not recent) that take a pretty much adversarial stand towards the viewer - The Hills Have Eyes (original), Evil Dead (the first one - after that they become comedy), Last House on the Left, etc.

I think it was Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982). It was a non-sequel to the Halloween movies.

I think this was Halloween 3 Season of the witch. Did it have a song called silver shamrock which activated the maggottyness? if it did that was it.
