Say, "I really appreciated the offer you extended to me awhile ago to interview for ____ position. At the time I was unable to do so. However, I am very intersted in persuing this opportunity now. When the next chance to interview comes up please consider me."

It wouldn't hurt. They might be happy to hear that you're still interested. Let them know they can reach you at [your email address].
