I think they like home schooled kids. I was homeschooled and I was able to get into a four year college.

I work in the admissions office of a community college in CA so hopefully this will help (I know everyone can get into a comm. college, but I got this information from people who have been working in other colleges and universities before working with me). College's will actually not discriminate students for being in home school and the reason why so many parents are using this option for their children is because of all the safety issues that have been occurring in our schools in the past years.

The main difference that we could find on this kids is in their social skills, since many of them don't get the chance to interact with too many people. Now, from the academic point of view, each student is completely different to the others, just like in high schools, since the learning skills of the students are always different, the same happens with the teachers that they have, not all of them are good.
One thing that home school students don't get are the extra credits or achievements that you could receive because of school activities. They can still participate in Community Services to make them part of their personal estatement whenever they want to apply to universities.

BTW, other reasons why kids do homeschool are because their parents are teachers or because they are too advanced for HS). Usually they all graduate before 17 years old. Not all of them are just spoiled.

Lets see home schooling for me was really great and awsome. I started in 10th grade I was starting my second semester. I just got tired of going to school and my math teacher would not help me at all on my math problems. So I had to talk to the counslor about her and stuff and it still didnt work so I was like I quit im not taking this no more. I wanted to get a better education for myself I at least deserved it. So I asked a friend which home schooling online program she was doing and she told me so I my mom contacted them and I got enrolled in it right away. It really helped me and the best part i got to keep my credits that i got in high school and got to transfer them to that online school. I graduated my normal year and stuff because I took my time and didnt rush to get it done. In the end it was worth it even though it was a lil pricey but well worth it. I'm glad I sort of went home schooling because I didnt have to put up with the immature ppl that I went to school with and I payed attiton alot more and made better grade then I did then when I was in school. I missed all of my friends though while I was homeschooled cuz I hardley ever got to see them or anything. That goes with it I guess. So I think that homeschooling is a good thing. Its better then public school at least where im from it is. Hoped I helped you in someway for your paper. Good Luck!

It depends on the university and on the type of homeschooling. From what I've seen, there are two kinds of homeschooled students. There are those who are exceptionally bright children of parents who are also bright & choose to be active in the education of their kids. And then there are the children of religious nuts.

The following links tell you what two very good liberal arts colleges think of homeschooled students.

As spoiled material... They didn't learn to socialize with their peers, they don't know how to share time and attention of their mentor... The gross of home-shooled kids need a thorough preparation for real school before coming to shool.

Probably however their arch-conservative policymakers tell them to...like they are the children of God.
