I don't know from experience, but I do know a little history. California in general is very open to international people because Angel Island was a major immigration site like Ellis Island in New York and because of the increase Latin population due to both immigration and complications in the Mexican-American war.

Yup, San Francisco loves foreigners! You can find almost every cuisine, language, music, religion, etc. Very tourist friendly city.

Very friendly town, lots of fun, very open and loving. As for White Rose and her answer, she's is wrong, it's not the only place gays are welcome. Come to Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver. We here in Canada are more than happy to have gay visitors and remember, we can marry.

It is one of the most open minded and evolved places in the US. They welcome everyone, it is the only place close to Europe.
