My ObGyn told me you actually ovulate 14 days BEFORE your period comes. Which makes it difficult to predict when you ovulate, unless your cycle is pretty normal like yours is.
You should ovulate on day 12-14 (with day one being the first day of your period). So, you should be having sex at least every other day beginning day 10 until day 16 (just in case you ovulate late).
Best of luck to you!!!
(that book Jachooz is talking about is really good!)

A 28 day cycle is considered a normal cycle and females with normal cycles usually ovulate about 14 days after the start of their period (which is half way thru your cycle). But since you sometimes have a 26 day cycle you may or may not ovulate sooner. The best thing to do is buy an ovulation detector kit. They seem to be pretty accurate.

This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

First I want to start off by saying that I have a very regular cycle (every 28 days)...A good rule of thumb is to count half of your cycle time (so in my case 14 days) from the day you start your period and that is the day you ovulate...With both my pregnancies I got pregnant on the first try because I followed this rule.

There are several ways to track your ovulation. And your body can give you the clues, you just need to know how to read the clues.
You can get a kit from the store. You can chart your basal body temp, or you can track your cervial fluid. A good way to tell when you are close to ovulating is that you will noitce stretchy, egg-white like fluid when you go to the bathroom. This is the fertile fluid that sperm can live in, it's your body's way of preparing for conception.
The book Taking Charge of Your Fertitly can teach you how to do all of these things. http://www.tcoyf.com

Ovulation usually occurs 2 weeks prior to your next period. You can always purchase an ovulation detector at your local pharmacy (in the feminine hygiene aisle).

Go to www.mymonthlycycles.com and use their fertility calendar to track your periods. It will tell you what day you are ovulating and will even email you a few days in advance!
