I think some of the styles look fantastic! Over the weekend I just picked up a pair of a dark blue-green patent pumps. With how dark the color is, they are quite subtle but still pop with the right outfit.

It all depends on what you like. I personally love them, and I think that if you wear them with a sophisticated, grown-up outfit then they add a bit of fun to the outfit without seeming to childish. You can buy any ones that you want, whether they be flats or heels or wedges.. I might suggest staying away from boots (or at least ones bigger then ankle boots) because that would be a lot of leather on one leg. But if you can pull it off, go for it! Just keep in mind that moderation is nice - if you're going to wear the patent heels, don't go with the patent bag and the patent headband with the shiny shirt.. see where I'm going with that?
If it looks good on you, wear it! :)

I would wear a black strap sandals instead of the black patent leather shoes.

You have to get the right kind. There are a couple of REALLY cute and sexy patent leather heels. Try to get a pair that has a 1950's pinup girl feel to them. Way cute!

I have some black patent leather slingbacks that are very sexy. You just have to find the right shoe for you. Definitely don't buy mary janes if you think they look childish.

I agree with most of the other posters. It's something, a little different, than the typical kid leather heels. If the shoe style is hot, then the color can make it stand out more.
However, if you don't like it, that doesn't mean you have to go with it.

Right now the peep toe heels are super cute in the black patent leather. They are nostalgic and are really sexy.

I've seen some start coming into the shops, especially in red. They are a funny thing to wear, as they can seem over the top with most daytime clothes.

No, they are not in style. They are very uncomfortable because they do not "give" when you wear them and the leather often cracks. Don't buy them.

They are immensely popular right now! However, they don't tend to look as good on women with wide feet. Thin feet and thin legs tend to look better. Clean-up is a breeze (windex)!
