I came back from a trip to Europe and the transatlantic flight gave me a serious a serious headache. I was fine before boarding the plane, but after about an hour on the plane I got this incredible headache. I've flown shorter 3-4 hour flights before and haven't gotten such serious headaches. Was it b/c the seats weren't comfortable on neck and back? Was it the airplane noise? I got headaches flying there and back.

the different elevation levels have different levels of pressure...thats why your ears pop. You probably got a sinus migraine from a build up of too much pressure in your head.

The air is recycled and dry; dehydration can cause killer headaches. You should drink water every hour. The noise is a factor as well; if you're going to do more traveling, it's worth the investment to get some good noise-cancelling headphones.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

The changes in air pressure is probably the cause of it. Also, the air is very dry and you can easily get dehydrated, which can also cause headaches. The noise doesn't help either!

Maybe you were dehydrated. Were you watching a movie on the flight? Maybe you got a headache from straining to see those little TV screens...
