I am sure they did. And right after that the marlboro man walked by and put his foot up on the wall and light a cigarette.....I am gonna go with NO it is so Hollywood. How much fun would it be to watch them sit there and grunt? The hair pulling added exactly what some director or cartoonist needed to make the sketch funny....Also, how would we really know that? They don't have a hair pulling-o-meter.......down at NYU.....I am gonna go with no! But, you should write a letter to the guy that thought of it. It certainly got your attention! :)

The origin of these phrase might have been from cartoons as we can see women being dragged by their hair while a caveman brings a club with them. If the women refused to be dragged byt he hair, they are clubbed. This might be possible because men always sees women in the past as inferior to them, even during the time of the cavemens. Although this may not be technically the actual act of dragging but more or less it can be equated with dragging women down so they won't succeed. Even if we look at the modern corporate world, we see the women who are on top of the ladder being pulled down because they are torn between their career and a life outside of work, a family. Especially if women have little kids, the possibility of a promotion may be unlikely because employers would understand that the women needs to have more time with family than in work, so mostly men climb up the corporate ladder which may be unfair.
Well, this is how I see it though. Goodluck!

Getting your own woman in those day was a very difficult thing to do and the cave men were very lacking in the area of manners and people were not plentiful in those day.. And at that time only the strongest can survive really meant something. So I am very sure that some clubbing and fighting went on not only to get a woman but also in keeping a woman. You have to remember that our sexual drive is almost as strong as our will to survive. Another thing how hard do you think is was in those days, for a man walking around half or all the way naked and feeding him self and a family Is a very hard thing for us to imagination in our time and date, also they had to eat things that also had their flesh on their menu. Also taking a woman from her home and keeping her in a place she did not want to be and then sharing her with other member of your tribe for the purpose of promoting harmony, those fight must have been horrendous. So I feel that the cave man was not given a bad rap he really did deserve his title for being a clubber and a hair puller.....

There's no evidence that it ever went on like that. It is surmised though that our ancestors definately were raped farily often though.
Proof of that is in the female proof of stimulation.
I'll explain; A study was conducted that measured female arousal (blood flow to the genitals) in a wide variety of women, specificly to measure the amount of arousal detected when mentally the subject said that the image disgusted them or appealed to them. The women were shown images of regular sex, rape scenes, animals having sex, different sexual drawings, good looking men, good looking women, violent images, and romantic images.
The level of arousal of the appealing images was high, but what was unexpected is that when any image of sexual or violent sexual acts were shown to the women, all the women responded that the image turned them off - BUT - the level of arousal and bloodflow showed a different story.
The scientists involved with the study surmise that this effect is something that has evolved from when we were primative and that the additional female bloodflow is a defense mechanism to an impending rape - the additional bloodflow stimulates the fluids of the area and therefore protects the woman from permanent harm from the rape.

That is the reason they got all of the nagging because they bonked her on the head. And if he would not have done that then there would not be the excuse of a headache when he is wanting some nookie.

Apparently director Jean-Jacques Annaud didn't think so, or you would have seen that sort of thing happening from time to time in his movie "Quest for Fire".
Anyway, I thought the only habitual clubbing ever done by cave-dwellers was green snakes by fat women. :-)

I'm not sure, but I have heard that they are still around. They came out of hiding as soon as Geico started putting them down.

I doubt it. I think that was mostly likely something somebody put in a cartoon and it stuck.
