I think as everyone has pointed out. No, GTA's ESRB rating is pretty accurate.
Basically M 17+ rating equates to a rated R movie. It's intended for mature subjects because it contains mature subject matter.
This is not an appropriate game for a 12 year old.

Its rated for a reason trust me grand Theft auto is one of the more hardcore games i dont think its suitable for a 12 year olf no way.

F*** NO. Grand Theft Auto is rated mature as in 17 and older, giving it to your twelve yaear old is parental suicide, i am so sick and tired of moronic parents who let their kids play mature games and they do something stupid and it's a complete backlash on the industry because DEDEDE let timmy play GTA
To reiterate F*** NO It's because of these kind of parents i have to show my id to buy Mortal Kombat: Armaggedon (which buy the way pwns)

It depends on what you are willing to let your son see in terms of Violence, sex and other things. In my household I wouldn't have had a problem with my son playing it at that age but then he knows that this is just a computer game and nothing more than that. If you don't allow your son to play violent games in general then no this would not be suitable for your son.

no, I would think that it is definitely not appropriate for a 12 year old boy, due to the nature of the game and the images. Good for you for asking, though! Some people wouldn't care!

Depends on the child's maturity really you just have to make the descision yourself based on the content. It's a very good game though if you think he will be able to appreciate the finer points of it.

they would do anything to mack the game rated mature but when i played it the cussing is only in the cut scenes but other then that if it were to be a movie i would rate it pg 13
