Elevation of the bullet whilst it leaves the barrel has some thing to do with it to. A .40 4 Magnum (pistol around) will trip a pair of million/4 mile if fired at 5 feet from the floor in the previous hitting the floor. truthfully, a .22 short (pistol around) will pass very almost as a techniques because of the fact the .40 4 magazine whilst fired on an identical top from the floor. The Magnum around will pass a pair hundred feet greater suitable than the .22 witch at 775 fps is decrease velocity whilst positioned next to the Magnums 940 fps at a million/4 mile from launch.

My data on the 7.62x54r ammo shows a 1940's-vintage 148-grain bullet leaving the muzzle at 2628 feet per second, with a ballistic coefficient of .363

Plugging in the data to the calculator listed in the link below, I get a maximum range of 4233 yards, or about 2.4 miles. Incidentally, the firing angle is considerably short of 45 degrees - 32.5, to be exact.

Depends on the grains of powder and the elevation, but a mile and a 1/2 isn't out of the question.

You mean firing into the air at a 45 degree angle??? How would you ever find the bullet to find out?

If you fired it from orbit, it'll keep going forever!

Depends on the type of bullet used and the powder load in the specific bullet. Also can depend on trajectory of the gun.

Every bullet I shoot only travels as far as the target is away from me.

far enough to kill you if your standing right in front of it. C'mon, is an intelligent question too much to ask out of you? i'm thinking, yes.
