Focus on the love of the music, not the idea of being a star. Stars come and go, but the love remains, and if you have that love, it will reflect from you.

It's wonderful that you sing well. :-) Learn to read music if you don't already. Pick up an instrument ... do more than sing if you want to be more marketable.

But, keep your eye on school. Study well and have a career as a backup. You should follow your dreams, yes, but keep your feet underneath you so you don't fall while running after them.

Talent.

Persistance.
Repeat.

I can't stress practice enough. Even if you are possessed with loads of god-given talent, practice will only make that talent shine even brighter. Don't rush out and try and become a star immediately - unless you want to become a one hit wonder.

Start with local exposure - sing at school talent shows, weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc at first for free, then later for small amounts of money. These are a good way to make your name known locally - at that point, you can usually self publish a CD and sell it locally - but make sure you pay for a good studio to do a self published CD - a cruddy homemade recording will do more to damage your reputation than the album exposure will do.

Then just gradually increase your exposure - start singing weddings, etc in the neighboring counties and so on. If you're good, practice a lot and persistant, you'll achieve your goal.

Remember though, that most stars with long term careers aren't just suddenly discovered - they've usually been around a while on a local scene and gradually increased their presence.

Being a star goes more than having talent (but that helps) You need the drive also. If you have that then set your goals. Make a sample of your work. Enter a contest. And show your talent. Good Luck, I hope I hear of you real soon.

The funny thing about acheiving your dreams is that it only means you need to come up with new dreams!

Keep working on your craft--being the best singer you can be is the place to start. In additon, you need to round yourself out as a performer--so take any opportunity to get on stage, even when it's as average as karaoke or church. Keep an eye out for opportunities for a bigger stage--open mic nites, talent contests, etc.

Even if you have talent, it takes some luck. Maybe you'll get lucky at a very young age, and maybe you'll be twenty before you do. (Leann Rimes thought it may have been a curse to be popular so young, but things turned out OK for her. I remember her saying something like--I don't want to be a fourteen year old sensation, I want to make music all my life.) Don't go the route of Hanson--they have talent but no one listens to them now!

Also 'luck' seems to happen to people who make it happen. You have to set yourself up to make opportunities. You have to get out and be seen as much as you can, and always try your best (you never know when a talent scout might catch a show to get out of the rain.) Keep working and keep it fun--you'll make it sooner or later!
