It's official scientific name is Mus cypriacus.

It's common name is the Cypriot mouse, as stated above.

It had previously been assumed to be a variant of a normal mouse but a sharp-eyed scientist from Durham university spotted it had an unusually large head and then confirmed it was a new species with genetic analyses.
