Am I asking to much from my children's schools bus company? Times have changed.?
I have children that catch the bus from my house. One 1st grader, 2 second graders. 1- 3rd grader , 1- 4thgrader and 1 -5th grader. We live in the Kansas City area and is getting cold. Not only that I am unable to see the bus stop that is at the bottom of the hill at my street. A number of the kids have been labled " hard to handle kids" I and many others have asked that an additional bus stop be made closer to the top of the hill. Were they can be more closley watched. The bus owner has rudly applied that that is were the stop has always been. And there has never been a problem befor. She is very rude and confruntational about the matter and will not even listen to my plea. Other mothers have even called her,and her dimener was the same. I went on line and found a School Bus Scheduling and Routing info for our district. It was adopted JANUARY 18, 1982 revised in 92,99,01. It brakes my heart that they will not acomadate us. Am I asking to much?

Go to the shcool board and remind them that they are responsible for the children at the school bus stop. The school must have insurance that covers the kids at that stop and you can cause them problems if necessary. Get as many Moms as you can from your neighborhood to come to the next meeting. Meeting times must be in the newspaper of your town or call school for dates and times.

I happen to drive a School Bus I'm surprised the School Board allows Your Children to leave the Bus without a Adult to be at the stop. I may not let any Child from grade 3 or below off My Bus unless there is a Adult to look after Them . Too many Children have been molested and attacked when there is no Adult around to protect Them.. Secondly If You want the Stop changed You have to go through Your School Board. Drivers are not permitted to let the Children off unless it is a Designated Stop. In the future if You have any Requests or Complaints take them to Your School Board and not the Driver They will advise the Driver not You.

If you have not been able to get results from the driver, their is only two things left to you.
1. Call the Schools Administration/Supervisor of Transportation
2. Give up
Drivers over the years have had to put up with more and more problems from our children. It no longer is an easy or fun job.
Teachers like bus drivers may not touch our children in any way. The children know this and they have become very disreputable and disrespectful. Unfortunately, we the parents wanted it this way. Bus drivers and teachers have started to take it out on the parents.
I remember a time when the teacher said to sit down you did it. All the children were afraid to be sent to the office, because that meant they were going to get paddled with a phone call to your parents. Or you would get a detention. Children are no longer treated like children. They are made to sit at a desk quietly and do their work. I remember recess, and this too is a thing of the past. I miss the days were children respected their teachers, bus drivers and ant adult they met.

No, I don't believe you are asking too much. Is the school bus company thru the school corporation or a privately owned company? If it's thru the school, I would advise talking to someone from the administrative office and see if anything can be done from that angle. If privately owned, is there anyone else higher "up" in the company that you could speak with? There are children on my kids bus route that are labeled "trouble" kids also. I know where you are coming from. If you can't get anyone to listen to you or the other mom's, I would suggest having your kids sit in your car and you take them to the bus stop until the bus gets there.

Put it in a letter to the Director at the bus company, Don't deal with the driver. Send a copy to the School Principal, District Transportation Coordinator and maybe even the school Superintendent. Show on the bottom of the letter that you have copied (CC:) all of these other people and then they will not file the letter in the garbage. Don't complain in your letter just make the point that you are worried about thew safety of your children and that you would truly;y appreciate them making an adjustment for you.
And for goodness sake, please use spell check (I say this not to embarrass you but to help you get your point across more effectively.)

No, you're asking too much at all.
You should call the bus company, never mind talking to the bus driver & tell them about the driver's attitude & your concerns.
They WILL most likely add another stop. My daughter just started a new school & she's older then the kids you're talking about.
They added a stop for her. for the same reasons your suggesting, safety!
Don't let anyone lable those kids & treat them differently.

Go over her head - contact the school to make them aware of her rude attitude and the Kansas school bus system. If they don't help then contact the Bd of Education big wigs - keeping moving up the chain of commands until you get results - nothing is too much trouble to preserve the safety of our children.
Children have been abducted here in NC form the school bus stop - what a country we live in Oh my.

You shouldn't be asking the driver. You should start by contacting the school principal and explain the problem....they might refer you to the district to petition to have the stop changed. The bus driver SHOULD NOT be changing her route - unless she is told to do so.

no,you are paying taxes or a fee for this service they should accommodate you, maybe your school can get involved somehow because you are talking about the safety of the kids and that should be the first priority
