UN sanctions a declaration of war: North Korea
Tue Oct 17, 6:50 AM

North Korea said Tuesday the United Nations has declared war on the Communist country by imposing sanctions in response to its nuclear weapon test.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the official Korean Central News Agency saying Pyongyang would like "peace but is not afraid of war," and the UN Security Council "resolution cannot be construed otherwise than a declaration of a war."

The ministry described the sanctions as "a product of the U.S. hostile policy toward" North Korea.

North Korea threatened to take serious action against any person that uses the UN resolution to impinge upon its sovereignty, saying in the statement North Korea "will deal merciless blows at him through strong actions."

That's all true what you heard. North Korea said it the resolution cannot be construed otherwise than a declaration of a war, against the North, also known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The North also warned it wants peace but is not afraid of war, and that it would deal merciless blows against anyone who violates its sovereignty.
Now, that sounds like fighting words! I am kinda scared...

we are always at war with north Korea... when the 1st Korean war ended we left 50,000 troops over there to protect the south. north Korea is angry that the UN is wanting to shut down what little trade that north Korea has with the rest of the world. Shutting down their trade will put a strangle hold on their country by stopping the shipments of food and other items that they want. The USA has not declared war scene Dec 8, 1941against Japan. The USA will enforce the UN sanctions if called on. If North Korea tries to cross the ocean the US navy will blast them out of the water. Most likely the only things that we have to worry about if North Korea trying to get their bomb to an allied country or launching a missile into South Korea.

North Korea is run by a lunatic. The USA has NOT declared war on Korea. Kim Jung "Mentally ill" is saying that anyone that follows the sanctions is basically declaring war.

The guy is nuttier than squirrel turds.

And to the jerk that said USA sucks... So does your momma!

The USA is the best thing going in the world and your jealousy is clear. Don't like us? Don't come here, don't watch our movies, don't buy our products, don't do anything associated with us.

We are the ONLY thing keeping the worlds dictators from marching over your pitiful country and enslaving or killing you.

If I was a North Korean,I would not be too worried.

95% of the US population would not Know where North Korea is.Not much chance of your bomber pilots finding it.

Now that's funny ;)

Only problem with your logic is that is about the percentage of the US military population that has done a tour of duty in Korea over the last 50 years

Please remember the the "Korean War" was ended with a Ceasefire, not a peace treaty in 1952. Also, in the last 4months N.Korea has tested a ballistic missile and a nuclear bomb. Who is rattling sabres? The Non-Proliferation treaty says nations can pursue nuclear power as long as they submit to international inspection; and all do even Pakistan and India. Both N.Korean and Iran claim that is an infraction of their sovereignty; hence, an act of war.

The US has been more than patient. Also N.Korea has proven itself to be untrustworthy in negotiations, as they violated every promised made to the US during the Clinton Administration.

The problem is that everyone has their own idea on the interpretation of the statement.
Rice is now going to say that asia and s. Korea must do what they can to insure sanctions as well, even though she will say that this is not a war debate.

They dont might desire to declare conflict. they have been at conflict with us and S. Korea because of the fact the 50s. The korean conflict by no ability ended, its purely postponed. They wouldnt nuke anybody because it may be suicide. the end result's unknown as any style of components might desire to come into play. No they wouldnt rapidly become a democracy in the event that they lost. BTW we are no longer a democracy. we are a Constitutional Republic. Why we are spreading democracy is previous me. Democracy is a failed device of government, no democracy has lasted greater suitable than 2 hundred years. as quickly as a democracys human beings decide they might vote themselves funds from the treasury, the rustic fails.

Here in the U.S., we have enough Nukes to turn the entire planet into toast 500 times. Russia has all kinds of Nukes, as does Israel. Well, whatever happens, I'd bet it has been predetermined for at least 20 years. Truth be known, we haven't actually won a war since WW2.

The article means that N Korea is taking the sanctions put on them as us declaring war on them. Which we have not done. This way though if they do strike out at anyone they can say it was in self defense. The games they play (Bush,Rice, UN, N. Korea, etc.) are like childish schoolyard games.

We should not be surprised by Kim J Il's latest tantrum.
China has propped up this wing-nut for a long time.
Now that he has finally become more than a fly in the ointment, it's time for them to step up. Multi-national talks involving the regional players is a good place to start.

IMHO China must bring its dog to heel!

BTW good A to my Q.
