It should be above the '3' key on your keybaord.

If it's not there then you may have a US keyboard or other foreign keyboard.

If the '£' sign is there then you need to go to your Windows control panel and setup your system to a UK Keyboard.

Check:
CONTROL PANEL > KEYBOARD
CONTROL PANEL > INTERNATIONAL SETTINGS

I deal with it this way. I go to insert, select "symbol" and then search for the pound sign. I select it, press the insert button and the close button and there it is. But because that's the long way round and I want to use the sign frequently, I set up my own short cut key and all I have to do is press the combination of keys I've chosen and the sign comes up every time. Pick a combination which is easy to remember and involves keys you haven't much use for otherwise. hope this helped you!!

I can't remember the numbers, but there is an entire group of ascii characters that are accessible by pressing the ALT button down and keying in a number
for example ALT + 21 will give you § and ALT + 20 is ¶. YOu'll have to mess around w/ the numbers. If I figure it out I'll get back to you.

IT's ALT 157 see:

scroll down to extended ascii codes.

Unless you've got a US keyboard - press shift & 3 simultaneously.
