Why is it that we have known more about where babies come from than in all of human history and no matterr how much you tell people to put a bag on it, take their birth control pills right, and show them where their genitals and reproductive organs are located, they still can't get it through their heads that the consequences are pregnancy and STD's?
How many more decades of Birth Contol promotion and STD awareness will finally bring down the abortion rate significantly?
And if it's true that about a million abortions happen every year, it's also true that they are having sex unprotected from contracting STD's.
Women who get abortions are more likely to have STD's and therefore, spread STD's.
Abortion is nothing people should be advocating.
It encourages an unhealthy life for everyone.

OK, I'll answer for me:
No, you are all wrong, girls are protecting themselves, they are using condoms everytime, using birth control all the time and even putting spermacide on the condom! It's just that the sex is so wild that the condoms always seem to break: hence the abortion rate.
See, it's not human failure at all! It's those darn condom manufacturers!!
The other portion have no clue about how the sperm and the egg thing work at all and they get forced into sex somehow and they ALWAYS seem to get pregnant and always seem to need an abortion, hence the abortion rate.

I think Nature wants to perpetuate the race so badly, that it purposely floods the brain with hormones and chemicals to the point that men and women don't rationalize at that passionate moment. All the education and pointing fingers isn't going to change the species subconcious desire to procreate.

prince isaac is right up to a point. if either one of you have an STD, it will get transmitted that much easier if there's a bunch of menstrual flow around. if you're not having safe sex, you should both get tested and then you'll know. If you have been tested, and know each of you is clean, there's no harm in having sex with a girl on her period. some people like the increased lubrication. just put down a towel you don't care much about and get after it. I've known some girls that appreciate when a guy doesn't act all crazy about a little menstrual flow. it's natural. then again, there's some girls that would gag at the suggestion. as long as there's no STD risk, it's all personal preference.

The U.S. population just hit 300 million. How many of the adults in that figure are educated to the point that they "get" the importance of education, an orderly society in which people read, write, listen, converse and mull over the issues that are relevant today and that will determine the health of our country and culture tomorrow? How many of those adults were "brought up" in a stable, one or two parent home in which reading and writing were primary values and reading a daily newspaper was the least a citizen could do to prepare themselves to "count" when citizen decisions were made. I maintain that the figure is shockingly low today, unlike, say, fifty years ago when the population was half what it is today. And we are going to discuss birth control with young people who not only can't write, spell or read with assurance, but who live for the moment and "like, what do you mean, tomorrow? Huh?"
As I see it, abortion will continue to climb in numbers unimaginable as the culture continues to dumb down due primarily to multiculturalism led by illegal immigration that features little respect for education and a political correctness that resists intelligent planning. Bad condoms are a small part of the problem, bad politicians and activists are to blame.

I think maybe the sex ed classes aren't going far enough.
Middle school is the time to start indoctrinating the kids into abstainance. The huge gross-out factor of so many of the facts of life would particularly speak to kids of this age.
If you had shown me a video of a baby's humongous head coming out of that tiny little opening when I was in middle school, I'd have been grossed out & terrified to have sex until MUCH later in life.
Or just for the fellas: pictures of peenies just EATEN UP with some really scaly & pustulous STD. That'll make the little general try to crawl back inside in fear.
Seriously, I was way too afraid of my Dad's reaction to do the sex thing until I was grown. Maybe some healthy fear would be helpful to today's kids.

There is no connection b/t the two at all. Abortion is legal and that's what causes it, plain and simple but sickening.
When I was in high school (late 80s). Fear of pregnancy and STDs kept our legs CLOSED. My high school boyfriend and I did everything BUT due to this fear, which was reinforced by parents and society at large.. with few exceptions.
Condoms break a lot more often than people realize, so they are NOT safe. My husband and I used them at the beginning so I know about this.

Why is it that the same people who want to prevent free choice want to make it more difficult to get condoms and other forms of birth control?
I do think you're onto something - instead of both sides ranting and raving about the laws, why don't people put their heads together to prevent the pregnancies from happening in the first place?

Whether or not abortion is around is irrevelant. People are still going to be having unprotected sex. You can blame it on the "girl" all you want but what about the man? He knows better as well. What about the "come on baby, it just doesn't feel the same with "it" on"?
The only thing different you will have is alot more kids walking around this world without any parents. More kids found in dumpsters or girls trying to give themselves abortions like they used to do before it was legal. At least with abortions being legal you have the chance of seeing a reputable doctor in a clean environment.

Amen... But I don't think it will reduce the birth control rate to inform anymore... I think it would have to be banned... It's just that it still has too many fans. It would never pass. It's a shame that politicians aren't trying harder, though. It's too controversial. They worry about their ratings too much. I think abortion will naturally abolish itself, though. As all the promiscuous girls get those STDs and pass them to their boytoys, eventually, we'll have an AIDS infected generation, there will be a smaller population for a while, but the remaining generation will be a little wiser???

I don't know, it baffles me, and they seem real proud to have babies out of wedlock. Weird! Back in the 70's when the pill was a relatively new phenomenon, I think women and men for that matter where smarter about protecting themselves. Of course there was the occasional high school pregnancy everyone talked about. But now days its epidemic! My middle daughter has 4 friends she hangs out with for many years, all but my daughter has a baby out of wedlock, just really bizarre to me!

Not all pregancies are the result of unprotected sex. Sometimes protection fails, there is rape, incest and ignorance. Abortion is not usually considered the choice in birth control......and isn't promoted as being such. There are a few stupid women who do that, but for the most part it is correcting a terrible wrong.
