I had chronic sinus infections for years and took antibiotics. It wasn't until I was a starving student with no health insurance that I learned how to get healthy.

(1) Do a nasal flush 4-6 times a day at first. Back off a bit as you get healthier. Use 8 oz body-temp water, 1/4 tsp ea. sea salt and baking soda. Flush gently through both nostrils with a neti pot or a baby nasal aspirator (I use the aspirator).

(2) Take a few more antioxident vitamins. Some garlic pills wouldn't hurt.

(3) Make mineral broth and drink a quart a day if you can. The best is to make it from organic vegetables and filtered water, I can't afford that, so at least make sure you boil a lot of greens in some broth. Spinach is best (organic if you can, don't worry, everything WILL be killed if boiled).

(4) Cut out dairy until you're cleared up. You don't need more mucus. Drink tea instead of coffee.

(5) Rest as much as you can!

Give it 14 days. I never, never, NEVER took an antibiotic for a sinus infection after I started doing this. Now if I feel one coming on, I flush a few times, up the vitamins, drink a little broth and rest, and I'm fine.

Most people can get over a sinus infection (sinusitis) without medical intervention, but if you have had symptoms for a few days, you should try and get help because you probably need antibiotics. I’ve included a link to a national free clinic directory. You might also check out your county health department. I’ve also included links to fact sheets on sinusitis from the National Institutes of Health and the Mayo Clinic. Here is what the Mayo Clinic recommends to help relieve the symptoms of acute sinusitis.

No over-the-counter (OTC) medications can cure acute sinusitis. But some OTC medications and other home remedies may help reduce pain and congestion associated with sinusitis. These remedies include:
•Spraying a saline solution in your nose several times a day to relieve stuffiness
•Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot — not boiling — water several times a day
•Taking over-the-counter pain relievers
•Applying warm compresses to your nose, cheeks and eyes
•Drinking additional fluids
Some doctors have also recommended OTC decongestants to relieve congestion associated with sinusitis. But there is little evidence that OTC decongestants are effective in treating acute sinusitis.

There are some health plans that cost as little as $60 a month for an individual. You can compare health insurance options in your area through MostChoice.com – both through online rate quotes and through offline discussions with qualified health insurance representatives. It’s a fast, free way to quickly review a wide range of local health insurance policies until you find the most affordable option that still provides a level of coverage you’re comfortable with.

Garlic, Echinacea, zinc and vitamin C. Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest. I also use a non-medicated saline solution nasal spray. Putting a few drops of eucalyptus oil into an oil burner is great too for some immediate relief, and it smells nice too.
I used to get sinus infections all the time but have not had a problem now for 5 years.

Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water or juice per day. Apply moist heat (a warm towel or gel pack) to your face several times a day for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Breathe warm, moist air from a steamy shower, a hot bath, or sink filled with water. Avoid cold, dry air. Take an oral decongestant, use a decongestant nasal spray. You can also make saline nose drops this will keep nasal tissues moist so the tissues can filter the the air. Mix 1/4 teaspoon salt in 1 cup of body temperature water. Place the solution in a clean bottle with a dropper. Use as necessary. Make a fresh solution every 3 days.

Go to Walgreens, get a Neti Pot and use it. I LOVE it. I used it for the first time last week and I had a bad sinus thing going on.

Also, increase the fluids, increase the rest, and if the other symptoms like headache, runny nose, sore throat, congestion, etc act up, take some Nyquil at night, DayQuil during the day, and use that vapor rub stuff on your chest. LOVE that stuff, even though it smells funky, it works very good.

When I get these I use Echinacea 400mg and take 2 caps 3 times a day. I also take lots of Vitamin C...three 500mg tabs 3-4 times a day. Also I have taken Oregano Oil caps 3, 500mg tabs 3-4 times a day. I used to get sinus infections really bad. When I feel one coming on I just start taking these and it always clears up. It works best for me when I take all three of these. Hope this helps.

well, if it gets really bad, you should go to doctor. In rare cases it can cose blindness or so on...but this is rare. here is what wors for me. I suffer from this very othen. It is cosed by alergy and I prefer using alternative medecine.
1) homeopathic remedy: pulsatilla a,nd kali bi-cromicum (if you take it it can work or not work for you. homeopathic medecins do not have side efects)
2) basilicum and salvia steem inhalation, you know... a pot with lots of steeming tea and a towel ower your head and the pot. This is great! you can add cooking salt in it too. Also eucaliptus oil, minth, etc helps.
3) put something warm on the inflamated area. A hard boild egg (naturraly just cooked) is a grandma medecine working for me. It emitates wormth for long time. I also dry warm some kitchen salt or sand and put it in a cloth, role the clothe as a pancake and then apply this on the synus area. do not use it if its too hot!
4) was your nose...this is something I learned in a yoga book. It is not very esthetic, but it definitelly helps. Salt is very good for this inflamation.
5) acupuncture, acupressure...well I cannot explain the spots, but maybe you can find on the net.
6) lots of rest and sleep
7) finish sauna
8) drinkin tea with these plants tymian and basilicum (recomended), salvia and camomil - anti inflamatory, minth
9) other good plants.: aloe vera extract (anti inflamatori and strenthens the imune sistem), echinacea, propolis - strenthen the imune sistem.
10) the latest discovery was a tincture of eucaliptus, minth oils and ivy plant extract I got in a natural pharmacy. DO NOT EAT OR COOK IVY as by itself it can be poisonous. get the thing in the pharmacy! This one worked pretty good for me, it was easy to use and tasted good.

Hope all these grandma medecine helps.

This is nothing to toy with, if you are having ( I'm sorry but I'm going to say something gross) green or bloody mucus when you blow your nose, then you need to go to a county hospital or if you're in school go to the campus clinic. The only other thing that I know works is over the counter sinus meds (ask your pharmacist) and doing a hot salt water steam, you have to use lots of salt. Also gargling with listerine or warm salt water. I know all of this sounds gross but sinus infections aren't pretty and you really don't want to let it get out of hand.

Have a friend that is not sick but has insurance go and say they have a sinus infection. The doctor will prescribe them the medication that you need. Pretty such it is against the law but if you are really sick you must do what you need to do to survive.
