I used to be an electrical salesman so I know a little about this topic. One of the best brands is Bosch, expensive but then as with most things-you get what you pay for! I don't know if this is the case but the cheaper Bosch machines are made in Spain (rather than in Germany where most are made), not sure if this means they are any less reliable or not. Don't be tempted by the cheap makes-they'll only break down after a couple years! Plus with Bosch, and there high reliability rate you really shouldn't need to worry/get talked into purchasing an extended warranty. Not sure of an exact model to get but all Bosch is quality.

Have used daily a Zanussi slim-line for over 4 years, very quiet, no problem. However, used an Indesit when they first became popular, with a family of 6 for 10 years, the cheapest I could buy, only one breakdown in that time. I think the secret is to clean filter quite often.

I have a LG washing machine. It has a 30 min prog which is good if you in a hirry for slight soiled stuff. It also takes a large 7k load. Dishwasher - I have had a few. The best was a Brecknecht.

My bosch dishwasher is very reliable and quiet. No exposed elements and easy to use. Not cheap but can get quite a few models eg from John Lewis who also give you 2 years free warranty and will deliver to your door and will match the cheapest price!!!

Bosch.

Take a look at a bosch one, then look at some others. You will see that some of them use bosch mechanisms. Choose one of those as they are slightly cheaper than the Bosch branded ones.

We use one in our B&B every day, normally twice. Never goes wrong or hiccups at all.

I don't think there's much difference. They're all pretty good. The energy ratings are posted on each machine. There isn't even much difference in cost. I don't even know what ours is. Maybe Hotpoint. It's been going strong for six years. No breakdowns at all.

Bosch and the other German makers are known in the trade as producing the best dishwashers. fully integrated about £380.00.

VERY quiet, I can hardly hear mine for the entire wash.

My family has always gone for Bosch, I have a washer dryer of theirs myself. The are very reliable and last forever. Here is a link to their UK site so you can see what is available:

Aye , yourself , you lazy mare. A bottle of fairy (89p). I can't believe you are putting out expense for a mechanical dishwasher , how environmentally friendly is that?. How long does it take to wash dishes (10mins?) rinse them with clean water afterwards and let them drip-dry on the draining board.
