i would like to do some bussiness related work. What are my options other than research. I'm a very idenpendent type person so i don't want to have to work for someone else. i want to start something that i can possibly develop into something bigger. Are there any other options when i finish masters degree in biology or are research and med school my only options. Any thoughts, input or info from or on similar situations would be greatly appreciated. or if you know of someone with a masters degree doing something totally different, the info would be cherished.
thanks much in advance.

I think you might need to get some business experience first or another degree, perhaps? MBA, maybe?

Have you asked your Masters advisor for suggestions? S/he probably has seen her/his previous students go off in all sorts of career directions and can advise you. Also, do you go to professional meetings in your area of specialization? Networking with other people with the same training can also help to give you ideas. Finally, does the university have a placement office? Browsing through the literature or references they have may help.
