I want to buy a pair of expensive headphones for the best sound experience. This is what I am looking for:

- Loud
I want to be able to wear them around my neck and still hear them as if they were on my ears.

- Excellent Sound Quality
I want the music to sound crystal clear.

- Blocks of Other Noise
I don't exactly need this, but it would be a great added bonus.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what headphones I should buy. No more then $400.00 though

I got a pair of the Sennheiser 515's, lower of the Sennheiser line, but they are awesome. They are LOUD, so loud that they can basically be speakers around your neck. and they are comfy as hell! they are also the best headphones I have ever had, because they are so clear and crisp sound. I use them for video editing.
I would go with something higher in the 500 line, or even the 650's

I'm assuming you don't mean "expansive" which means Broad in size or extent - but rather "expensive".

I have a friend who bought a pair of mid-level (about $130) Bose noice canceling headphones (he flies a lot), and he has been really happy with them.

Realize of course, that the point of headphones is to wear them on your head, not around your neck - because then other people will hear the music as well - which isn't alway polite.

Also, they're not going to block out other noises when they're sitting on your neck.

Good luck to you.

Look at Sennheiser (specifically HD 650 or 300) , Grado (SR60), Audio Technica, Beyer Dynamic headphones. Bose QuietComfort 3 ,

I've heard good things about Etymotic ER 6's.

I would seriously consider a set of Shure Personal In-Ear Monitors. They do everything you are asking for right around what you are willing to spend.

From least to most expensive-
