We have a 120V romax enclosed power cord inside a power pole. We are also running network (Cat 5e) and phone lines (Cat 3) inside this same pole. Is that OK per electrical codes?

Thanks!

The electrical cables are in a flexible metal tube which is grounded to various junction boxes.

You need to contact you local building inspector to find out if violates electrical codes in your area.

They vary city to city.

But generally, it's a very bad idea to do this.

I believe ANSI/NECA/BICSI-568 covers installation of network and power. Other than most likely being against local code, you want to avoid running data near electrical. EMI can wreak havoc on your data.

What kind of Cat 5E are your running? STP or UTP?

I don't know about electrical codes, but you will have data loss. The electric interference will slow down your connection, or omit data transmitted across the network.

Nope. Electric and communications need to be kept separate. Network and phone can occupy the same raceway, but that's not ideal.

BTW, romex isn't shielded.
