If you guys aren't commited to another than I would move on if I were you. I wouldn't want to be tied down like that.

Listen. My son is a soldier. Why would you want to upset a man who is over there fighting for your right to do whatever you want? You are being incredibly selfish and self centered. Go ahead and do whatever you want, but you don't need to write to this man and upset him while he is away fighting and needs to concentrate on his own safety....
Chances are that he deserves someone who is a lot more giving of herself anyway, but just leave the poor man alone until he's home safe. Then dump him. You don't realize it yet, but you'll be doing him a huge favor by dumping him. Then he can go ahead and find a girl who will wait for him.

Have an open relationship till he gets back. So you can both date other people. Because if you think he won't be hooking up when they make port, think again. Then, when he gets back you can just see what happens. If it's meant to be, you will be together. If not, at least you didn't waste all that time waiting.
