I assume that the rotation of the windmill causes some action in the metal tube that makes noise below ground to ward off moles. Can I hear the noise and is it going to be a noisy nuscience?

youre right about the noise, but its not loud enough to be a nuisance. its just a few tiny ball bearings that rattle as the windmill turns. they work ok, but only in the immediate vicinity. if you have a big yard, you will need several because the sound doesnt travel very far through the ground.

It won't be noisy to you, and it won't drive off many moles either.
The windmills are pretty to look at, sometimes.

Getting rid of moles takes a lot of prep work in the area:
dig down a foot, lay a bed of gravel, then a couple layers of chicken wire.
Dirt on top of that, and then your plants. It's the only way.

Moles live where there are grubs to eat grubs destroy your grass so they are doing you a favor. Once the food source is gone the moles will be gone
