Wow...can you say PASSIONATE POSTS?!
Having a clinical abortion in the first trimester of a pregnancy (which was still legal this morning when I checked):
The clinic may require you to bring someone with you to transport you home from the clinic.
You'll be greeted with courtesy and compassion by staff members, then escorted to a briefing room. If you were not referred to the clinic by your doctor, you'll be asked a serious of questions in an effort to determine stage of your pregnance. You'll also be told what you can expect during and after the procedure, and you'll be counseled on using effective family planning in the future. You'll also be given a prescription for antibiotics which you will need to start taking after the procedure to guard against infection.
You'll then be escorted to an exam room where you'll disrobe from the waist down. You'll then lay down on the exam table with your feet in the stirrups. Next, a speculum is placed inside the vagina to keep the vaginal walls apart. The physician will hold the cervix, the opening to the uterus, with an instrument called a tenaculum. The physician will then insert a series of narrow metal instruments, called dilators, into the cervix to open it slightly. The physician will then use a slender suction cannula to remove the pregnancy from the uterus.
(This is where some clinics and gyno offices differ) The pain that one experiences (the physical pain) is a result of the cervic dialating and the cramping can be very painful. Some clinics will use a local anesthetic to reduce the pain during the procedure. Some clinics may also use a "laminaria" which is a thin stick that it inserted a day before the procedure to gradually dialate the cervix.
When the procedure is complete (about the same period of time that it takes to perform a standard annual gyno exam), you'll be escorted to a recovery room where you relax for an hour or so, sometimes with a heating pad on your abdomen. Generally the staff will check in on you often, counseling you on pain management and gently discussing possible grief counseling options as well.
Approximately one hour later, barring any complications, you'll be free to leave. Over the next 10 days or so you can expect bleeding and the type of cramping that would accompany an extra heavy period.
You will return to the clinic two weeks later for a post op exam.

It really depends on what type of abortion you get. There are a couple different ones.
RU-486 is an abortion pill. You take the first dose at the doctor office or clinic then they send you home with the 2nd dose. After the 2nd dose you pretty much have a voluntary miscarriage. It is a miscarriage only you brought it on by yourself through the pills.
D&C is where they actually dialate you and pull the fetus out using tongs/vacuum/scraper. They will dialate you using the same drug used to dialate women in labor. (normally pitocin) then they use a special tool to scrape the inside of your uterus to make sure you get all of the tissue and other stuff off. That is when they use the vacuum. It cleans up all of the tissue that is scraped. It also cleans up the actual fetus of the unborn child.
I would recommend going to your local Planned Parenthood to get information regarding this subject matter. You can also go to the planned parenthood website and get information ont he different types of abortion. Good Luck

For two or three days after unprotected intercourse a woman can try the 'morning after' pill - in some countries available over the counter from chemists.
After that the process is a dilation and curettage - that is, the lining of the womb is scraped out gently, surgically, and the embryo passes like a heavy period. There are also drugs that can be used at this stage but I'm not sure how effective they are.
Obviously, the earlier the better; and - sorry to do this - after unprotected sex with a new partner one needs an STD check-up, pronto.
Hope that helps.

You make an appointment ( you are told to take a night time pad with you). the nurse will then talk to you about contraception and suss out if you seem like your making the write decision for you. Then they do and ultra sound to see how old the baby is.. then the doctor will see you tell you about the procedure and then you get into a gown, they take your weight and then you lay on the table. the anesthesiologist will come over have a chat wheel you into a room where you put your legs on styrip's and then they put you under. while your under they make sure everything is removed and give you some shots of antibiotics. then you wake up on the bed they chat to you about how you feel. then give you injections if you have a different blood type to the fetus just in case. then you lay there for some time and then get up get changed and go home. You can't lift anything heavy for 2 weeks. You bleed alot and cry alot and never really get over it.

Abortion is a very painful thing for the mother and the child. (Babies can feel too when they are inside their mother!) They will suction the child out with something kinda like a vacuum hose, and then most of the time it is sent off for people to do experiments on. The mother normally has abdominal pain and mental distress for a while after. It is an awful process for everyone, and a painful one at that!

It depends on the age of the baby, and the method preferred by clinic/doctor, prochooice sites try and explain it away in a gentler voice but it does not change the way it is done, pictures dont lie and you can see the faces of death and pain in the murdered baby......there is no scientific proof that they do not feel pain no matter what prochoice people say...........they either do it like a d and c by scraping the inside of your uterus thus usually pullunf the child to peices, or they inject a saline solution which kills the child and they induce labor.

Well it depends on how old the fetus is and how advanced it is. Most abortions pretty much cut up the baby inside of the womb and extract it pieces by pieces until the uterus lining is scraped clean. The clinic will burn the remains of the baby and no funeral is given.

One way is to insert a needle drip of saline solution into the womb. According to a friend of mine who had that procedure, the drip lasted 24 hours. The next day, she delivered a burned, dead baby at 5 months! Scarey. She talked about an out of body experience.

They will deliver the baby's legs and feet, and then use an instrument to puncture a hole in the baby's head, thus killing it. After it is dead they pull it out and throw it in the garbage. This is what I've heard about partial birth abortions.
