Hi, I've gotten mixed views about prepaid legal. So far, both sides of the fence are equal so I'd like to present this question one more time to those of you out there who know what prepaid is and have had experience with it, whether you've been an associate or you've had the service for yourself or have even heard about it thru others. Should I get involved in this company as an associate? I don't want to put anyone through any unwanted hardships if I offer this program to people. Thanks.

I hate the thought that we live in a time that we need prepaid legal! My experience is limited, but I have found that lawyers that participate in these plans are not the top quality people. That is just my experience, and probably doesn't reflect the system accurately

I'm a member. It's a good service. You get your own team of attorneys. The police will not stop you if you have that shield in your car window. The do your will for free, plus all correspondence. If you want to be involved with Prepaid Legal without having a lot of responsibilities as far as trying to sell someone else on it, just become a member instead of an associated. My girlfriend tried to get me to be an associate, you can make a few bucks but it wasn't worth my time. I'd rather just do my job for 9-5 and go home to my lover and get laid. LOL!

"I personally don't like the approach just give me a blank check to start you off and each pay they'll deduct your monthly amount."

My fiance had a child support issue, I was just beginning my business. A neighbor two doors down has a brother who is an associate. He gives me all of this literature and it seems as if upon signing the Legal Prepaid will handle one case if not ongoing.issue. Well, how can child support not be an ongoing issue. So the associate said he wanted to set me up with an attorney to help me set up my business. I said no. So, my fiance come up to me and states that he has given this sheister $230+ to set up his account. I immediately put a stop payment on it and advised him against it, telling him that since his child is not new born, Prepaid Legal will not step in the middle of his case. He said the way it was explained to him it would be. I contacted Prepaid, since the stop payment was eminent and he said that an attorney would have to quote his fees and although the sign in agreement said free (can't remember the language), it only means that the receptionist will listen to your situation and recommend an attorney for you.

You are not getting any discount attorney fees. You are paying for them whether your fees amount to that much in an actual case or not. There is no savings.

I have had to take people to court several times and used an attorney each time. Most of the time the lawyer gets about $10,000 I get $5,000 or $500. or such I don't have to pay the lawyer up front anyway. When they hear the merits of the case, they know for themselves with that intitial discussion, where you show your case to the attorney what their chances are. They have told me okay, I give them the documentation to copy and they file all they need to file. Yes, they may be billing me $100 each time they file something, but I have never paid for legal fees - out of 5 lawsuits brought against me.

Prepaid legal is an overpriced lawyer referral service and if you want to be an associate that is on you - I only caution the customers to beware that it is not a discount organization as lawyers go. If you are a criminal, you are still paying too much as a customer.

Prepaid legal is a scam. Most of the services provided are little more than drafting a letter and mailing it, which the client is often overcharged for. I considered selling this service as an associate myself, but couldn't bring myself to do it in good conscience. The people that typically utilize these kinds of services are in situations that put them in need and don't understand the realm of legal issues so they end up spending a lot more money than they need to. I would turn and walk away. There are a lot of other great opportunities out there that don't involve abusing innocent people that need help.

We had it. A friend of my hubby's is an associate. He enjoyed the work, and we enjoyed the service. It wasn't that much. I think we chose the plan in the middle (around $26/month). They did our will (included in the price), but we never needed it for anything else.

One thing though, my hubby had a parking ticket once, and when he called to see if there was anything he could do, they said "pay it".

It wasn't a hardship on us at all.

I think it is a waste of money. I am an attorney, and I have found you would spend a lot less money without it. Some big companies provide it for a fee, but you don't get your choice of attorneys. I was asked to be one of their attorneys but I did not like their fee structure or rules.

i would not get involved with it. my experience was not a good one. they did actually refer me to a lawyer when i needed one but i do not think he did a very good job and in fact i had to hire another lawyer on my own. i dropped prepaid after that.
