Stress/being tense is a big teeth grinding culprit...and although some people will grit their teeth and tighten their neck muscles when awake, grinding typically occurs when they are sleeping and not aware of it...my dentist informed me I was a grinder, but apparently I quit...must've been something going on in my life at the time, that was stressing me out even during slumber.

I grind my teeth to the point that my jaw is aching in the morning. I have been told it is caused by stress . I was given a plastic mouth-piece that i use in the evenings to stop damaging my teeth. You should see your dentist and mention it to him else you will damage your teeth and it will cost you a lot more than for a mouth-piece:)

Alot of it is caused by stress. also mis-alignment of their teeth. My husband grinds his terribly. To the piint that some nights I have to sleep with ear plugs. But our dentist told us to go to walmart, and in the sports department by the $1 mouth guards. They mold to your mouth and fit on your teeth and stop you from grinding. Schools use these for the football players and work just as good as the ones the dental offices try to sell you for way more.

I used to grind my teeth years ago to the point where my jaw used to lock, and I had to physically move my bottom jaw to one side with my hand before I could move it. I don't recall mine being related to stress.

My dentist made me a mouth guard to wear at night. (I think he got fed up of my jaw locking every time he'd done some work on my teeth!). I wore it for 2 nights and never needed it since!

It might work with an over-the-counter mouth guard from sports shops, but if not, go see your dentist.

stress is a major reason. I gave myself tmj doing it. My sister cracked a bunch of teeth and spent all year going to the dentist to repair the damage. If you're grinding your teeth, get a mouth guard to prevent problems!

Usually people do this as they are stressed. Try to avoid doing it as you will gradually erode your teeth. Some breathing relaxing exercises will help and take some time out every day....even 15 minutes....to allow yourself some chill time.
