A defensive touchdown is scored when a player returns an interception or a fumble for a touchdown. An offensive touchdown is scored when the ball is successfully ran or passed over the opponent's goal line.

Defensive touchdown is when a defensive player and/or players (a player attempting to stop the opposing team from scoring) manages to gain possession of the football by interception or taking it away from an offensive player and running it into the end zone during the same play.
Offensive touchdown is when the the team with possession of the ball either by kick-off or by their defensive players gaining possesion (but not scoring) manages to get the ball into the end zone during a series of plays (passing or running the ball).

If your team is on the offense and your score through rushing or passing that would be considered an offensive touchdown.
If your team is on defense and score when you return an interception or a fumble that is a defensive touchdown.

Nothing score wise. Both are 6 points, with the possibility of another single point after a successful extra point kick or a two point conversion. But there is no difference between either.
