Not sure I understand your question, but the most you can score at any one time of off the bat is 6, if the ball is hit over the boundary without touching the field of play 1st, 4 runs if it reaches the boundary but touched the ground 1st. But there's no limit to the number of runs the Batsmen can make while the ball is stll in play.
There was once a village game played where there was a large Oak tree inside the boundary, the Batsman hit the ball into the tree where it landed on a branch, the Batsmen started running between the wickets while the fielding side tried to retrieve the ball which they couldn't reach. The Batsmen had scored over 50 runs when the fielding side's Captain appealed to the Umpire for lost ball. But was turned down by the Umpire who said it wasn't lost as he could see it up in the tree!. The fielders had to go find a ladder to get the ball, in this time the Batsmen made over a 1,000 runs!.
But the highest test score by one Batsman was 400 not out scored by Brian Lara of the West Indies in the 2003-2004 tour of the West Indies by England. He hit 43 4's and 4 6's getting to that total.
Best bowlng figures are:
In one innings 10 for 53 J C Laker England V Australia at Manchester in 1956.
Best Match bowling figures (Across both innings) 19 for 90 J C Laker England V Australia at Manchester in 1956.
and lastly the highest Test match score by a side was:
952 Delclared Sri Lanka V India 1997-1998.

Oh I say previous chaps, what a spiffing stable question. Jolly stable then. I heavily do no longer think of that cricket is a gentlemens game anymore! the sport is basically too expert and there is too lots money at stake. As for characters, i think of between the video games greatest of all time could have been the vast and loud Merv Hughes! As for right this moment, i'm uncertain there are any actual characters - returned, too expert. ok then, off for some tea and cucumbersandwichess. Cheerio then.
