You can find the population of the United States in the year you were born or naturalized at the US Census Bureau website below.

You use the following exponential interpolation to estimate the population on the day you were born or naturalized:

P = P1*POWER(P2/P1,(D-D1)/(D2-D1))

P = population on birthdate
P1 = population estimate immediately before birthdate
P2 = population estimate immediately after birthdate
D = birthdate
D1 = date of population estimate immediately before birthdate
D2 = date of population estimate immediately after birthdate

- American Number 146,004,378

PS - The US Census Bureau estimates that 11.7% of current US residents are foreign-born.

Actually, 300,000,000 weren't born here. 40% of them are immigrants.

Also, you wouldn't have a number, because the 3 M is how many are alive. There are still dead Americans that aren't counted on the cencus.

But, to the contrary, you may be talking about where you sit in the number of people born in America, and that too would not be a reasonable answer because how do you count the native Indians born before their was even a census around.

That question belongs in Society and Culture. Anyway, I'd guess you would figure it out by age. How many people have been born since you? Then subtract. But the number will change awfully fast, though.People are born and die all the time.

Go to the Census Bureau in Washington, DC and fill out a form in triplicate. When the wheels of the bureaucracy grind out the answer you will be summoned to appear before the IRS to explain all your deductions for every year since you started working. I hope this helps! Good luck!
