Probably, but I would recommend that a pregnant woman does NOT. There is a mercury derivative within the flu shot, and though the government and many members of the medical field would agree that it is not dangerous to a fetus...the dangers and possibility of harm do not outweigh the benefits. Yes, the flu is dangerous...but being more proactive and aware during your pregnancy is the best thing for both you and your baby during pregnancy. My wife, according to her OB/GYN, was allowed to take certain medications...but it was her conscious decision to take as few drugs (including caffeine, artifical sweeteners, etc) as possible during the 40 some weeks. It is a sacrifice, a small one at that, for the benefit of your child. Why not? We all want the absolute best for our children, why take any chances at all during these important, important days/weeks. A healthy baby is a blessing, but it doesn't come without some effort.

Ask your doctor first. My doctor recommended that I get the shot. I had a healthy baby girl. BUT I did end up getting the flu for 48 hours when I was 7 months pregnant.

that's secure to get the flu shot on an identical time as pregnant. it rather is even with the undeniable fact that, no longer counseled for pregnant women to get the nasal mist version of the vaccine because of the fact it contains a stay, yet weakened virus. The flu shot contains a killed virus, subsequently, that's secure and truthfully does no longer make you ill. The CDC recommends everybody over the age of 6 months to get a flu shot, and on the very appropriate of their record of human beings who could get it are pregnant women. The edge outcomes linked with the flu shot are discomfort on the injection internet site, low grade fever, and aches. i think that's why a number of of human beings say they fall sick from the flu shot. truthfully, they're purely experiencing edge outcomes.

I'm 29 wks pregnant and my obgyn is offering ALL his pregnant patients the flu shot. It IS recommended for pregnant women, unless you are allergic to something in the shot, like eggs! It's not dangerous for the fetus, or doctors wouldn't offer it!!!

I work in a medical facility and one of the girls in the office is just trying to get pregnant and one of our doctors told her NOT to get the shot. It's always a good idea to check with your own doctor, but I would say don't do it.

The flu shot is not safe for women in their first trimester of pregnancy; however, it is recommended for women in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

Call you're OB/GYN to ask them if it's safe. That would be the safest thing to do.
