Perhaps you mean geothermal? They release very little pollution.

A geothermal power plant releases "heat."
A geothermal power plant may also consume "heat"
and release "cold" or absence of heat.
The size of the plant, and hours of operation daily determine the quantity of heat released or heat consumed, and the resulting impact upon the local
environment.

water vapour...its a greenhouse gas. may even release warm/hot water into oceans lakes etc...reducing the amount of oxygen dissolved in it...therefore marine life die. Then there is the whole building of the plant and transportation of materials...would release CO2 ..another greenhouse gas.
Thats what we got taught when we were learning about it.
