I hate smoking... but a friendship should not be conditional...

it's up to her... but the thing is that Jenny not giving Nicky the money won't be what makes Nicky stop smoking. It is more likely to cause animosity between the two than to help Nicky quit. Nicky will have to quit because he decides to.. and until then if Jenny doesn't give him the money he will most likely still find a way to get the cigarettes.

The only thing that should concern Jenny is:'Will i be repaid'?Only Nicky can decide to give up smoking,& i certainly wouldn't want to be friends with some-one who lays down conditions.A friend in need,is a friend indeed.

It's an individual's choice whether or not they want to smoke, and just because you don't lend them money doesn't mean they're suddenly going to see the light and give up. Just lend them the money otherwise risk them being miserable all day whilst they suffer from withdrawal symptoms!!

Yes, because he will just get the money elsewere. Only the drug doer can make the decision to stop. By her not giving him money won't stop him from smoking.

No, Nicky needs to learn as early as possible that she/he needs to support his/her own filfthy habit!
If Jenny doesn't approve she shouldn't contribute to his/her friends habit.

Absolutely not. He should support his own habit, and if he can't, then he shouldn't smoke.

Also, you shouldn't lend money to someone if their going to use it for something you don't approve of.
