i also stayed at the altamar appartments in puerto rico. there is a lot of hills, taxis are like 3 euros max to the town centre and you have the europa about 5min walk away. its ok bit tacky but a good wholesome holiday if you want hot, ok food adn relatively cheap fun!
ive been there 3 times and each time its been ok.
altamar is nice and clean and they have the sense to put all the young people with kids and noisy people on one side if you are goig as a couple they put yu on the other side its nice and quiet.
cant get places by the pool but its hot and the balconies are lovely though not massively safe for kids! weather is fab over there!
people are generally nice.
i booked flights and room separately try winter sunshine website, cheap as chips and flights we booked with first choice cheap as well. saves a packet, dont forget insurance though and its abuot 60euros in a taxi from the airport and you might be able to book a coach or something back to the airpotr for something like 30euros on the way back!
good luck have a good time!

Puerto Rico. Still a bit tacky in commercial centre though. Have stayed in the vistamar apts 3 times which is on the flat, literally across the road from the beach. There are some nicer bars and restuarants that end as well. Try a boat trip to puerto mogan just up the coast, small but worth a visit. Try to avoid busy times though. Hope this helps.

We stayed in Porto Rico on the south of the island at the Altamar apartments. It's high on a hill but the entertainment and food was great. There are cockroaches but they are everywhere not just these apartments. Look it up. It's worth finding out more

Good luck

The resorts are all pretty much the same..its a great holiday spot..becareful of the time share/holiday club touts who will accost you and give you a scratch card..goes without saying you will win a major prize..its a con tell them to get lost..you will lose nearly a full day of holiday being on the receiving end of hard sell...

For a lively stay Playa des Inglis or Puerte Rica, for something a little quieter try Maspalomas.

Maspalomas had some pretty scenery, great views and some huge sand dunes. Playa de Mohan is smaller but very pretty indeed, great scenery around there too, but it may be a bit small for more than a few days.
