My IPOD has finally given up the ghost. I have 300+ songs on it, some purchased on ITUNES and the rest from my own CDs. I want to buy a new MP3 player. Can I just transfer my itunes Playlist to it? Is a there a particular MP3 player suitable for this? Many Thanks S

Firstly the only MP3 player suitable with iTunes is iPod, I hope that you playlists along with your MP3 files are saved into your PC hard disc otherwise there's no way to retreive your files from RIP iPod.

Yes you can transfer your ITunes playlist to an MP3. However, you have to copy your songs and put them into another folder (i.e. export the songs from ITunes via menu bar). There are no special or particular MP3 players...all of them should serve the purpose! Good Luck!

you need to buy a memory stick that plugs into the usb port of your pc. There are lots of different makes and they are not expensive. I bought one on Amazon (brand name Viking inter works). Once you plug it in a window will open up saying 'mass storage device', open your itunes window as well then drag your songs from one window to the other (do quite a few at a time but you wont be able to drag them all at once).
You can then transfer them by doing the reverse with your new mp3 window open (close itunes down first) GOOD LUCK!

in itunes when you open it, it should come up with a playlist telling you all your songs, from this if you plug your new mp3 player in it should copy them all over, however if you delete the songs from your pc, and they still come up, your buggered, but if you go to a repair shop then they can strip it down and get all your songs off your old ipod for you. Hope this was helpfull to you.

If I were you I'd get another iPod. You might be able to just drag and drop music files from iTunes into my music on your PC or another programme but it would be easier to buy another apple product and that will save you having to install new software. If the files are not saved to your PC then they are irretrievable I'm afraid.

Your ipod is an inanimate object which is obviously the only thing that you can form any sort of meaningful relationship with, but in anycase once dead, most things defy ressurection which in your case when your time comes is most welcome.

If it is truly truly dead (i.e. no power, nothing) then until you can power it up by some other means then your 'tunes are trapped in there forever.

Rawlyn.

p.s. Not "Ipod", not "IPOD", but "iPod" ;)
