My children were terrified of the Queen/witch in Walt Disney's Snow White, Cruella de Vil in the 101 Dalmatians and the spooks in On the Bare Mountain section of Fantasia when they were little, but strangely took Dr Who and Startreck monsters in their stride without a blink. Curiously enough, none of the former frightened me when I was little, but I left our children to watch the latter with their father because these monsters gave me the shudders as an adult.
Animated drawings obviously belonged to the realm of fantasy in my subconscious, but actual film seemed more realistic. I still hate war films of any kind probably because I was a baby at the end of the second world war and I could smell the fear of adults in the bombardments. Fright is very subjective isn't it?

The child catcher in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'! I remember being absolutely terrified. The evil queen in Snow White was horrid too, but really the monkeys in 'Wizard of Oz', they scarred me for life, Oh!, and I've just remembered the animated 'Lord of the Rings', the shadow soldier thingys (sorry I've forgotton what they're called - are in the new films too) I just absolutely could not watch it, I would leave the room when they came on!

definitely Labyrinth!!!! Dont think I spelt that right and christ almighty who thought that that child catcher character was suitable for a kids film!! I had nightmares!! Also I didnt like the witch out of Sleeping Beauty! There was one part on the stairs when she was following Princess Arora and it was just her eyes or something it was weird!! I remember the cushions came up a bit higher at that part!

Anne of eco-friendly Gables. (the trilogy) very exceptionally, no longer something like what comes on television/video clips those days. The little princess ( extra for women than boys, this one), the secret backyard ( a touch old, yet very sweet both one in each and every of them.) i might want to carry those until eventually she is slightly older. At 3 years old, i might want to signify each and every of the Disney classics that are so cute, pretty Robin Hood (animal version). i might want to also advise: Jim Henson's mom Goose memories. Barbie has truly some attractive video clips besides, The island princess is amazingly sweet

in most Disney films there are dark moments.
most children's films are based on fears and how to overcome them.
some scary/frightening moments from children's films, that i can remember are -
Bambi's mother dieing,
Nemo's mother dieing,
Snow whites step mother,
beauty's father v the beast,
101Dalmatians - cruella da-ville,
bednobs and broomsticks - the Germans invading,
wizard of oz - where do you start?,
Pinocchio - the whale, him dieing...,
chitty chitty bang bang - the child catcher,
lion king - death of his father,
toy story - bully next door,
peter pan - the pirates were scary to a young child,
goonies - the kids meeting the skeleton,
never-ending story - when the big white fluffy thing dies,
dumbo - when mummy gets taken away,
labyrinth was enough to make any kid spooked out,
fantasia - enough to scare any child away from classical music,
the dark chrystal - the bad things living in the tower were nasty, the harry potter films are good for making any child scared,
shark boy and lava girl - scared my kid in a few places,
need i go on???
and thats just off the top of my head.

and how dark was the original willy wonka film -
'how to bump off little brats' as my mum used to call it
