I make ornaments for my co-workers every year. My favorite so far were made out of polymer clay. I used the plain white clay and rolled it out to about 3/8 of an inch. Don't use a pasta machine because it makes it too flat and these are rustic ornaments. Next, I tore the clay into rough triangular shapes, using the existing edge at the top and kind of curling up any places that were pointy or too thin. Then I used some small alphabet stamps that I got at our craft store and stamped a word that represented that person, such as, energy, strength, laughter, etc., only I stamped the word in french. I just went to the library and used the english/french dictionary. Then I used a toothpick to make a hole at the top that twine would fit through and baked them according to the package directions. After they cooled, I sealed them with a stain that had polyurathane in it. I painted it on and rubbed off the excess, but letting the stain fill in the letters, so they looked old. After they dried, I hot glued little bits of greenery and berries (that I stole from my pot pouri bowl) at the top just under the hole, and then tied on a piece of twine to hang it with. The finished piece is about 3 to 4 inches each way depending on how you tear it or how big the word is you use. They look like carved old stone. Everyone loved them. I know it sounds like allot of work, but it goes realy fast. I also made some for us that had our family name on it and some with traditional Christmas sayings, in french of course. Joyeux Noel!

Did anything memorable happen this past year? If so, try to find an ornament that will make them remember that memory when they see it on the tree.
I started ornament collections for each of my children and tried to tie the ornament to whatever was special for them that particular year, like their fav movie or sports etc.

i might say, have Christmas on the homes of the mothers and fathers with the little pests for some years. My aunt used to place the tree IN a playpen so her sons and daughters could no longer get to the tree. That replaced into severe. you could connect the tree to the wall with fishing line so it won't fall over, in case you particularly are apprehensive approximately that. Or, you may placed non-breakable ornaments on the backside interior their attain, or perhaps have some ornaments for them to placed on the tree as quickly as they get there. and then supply them the strict message, whilst we placed those on the tree, we are unlikely to the touch it lower back. it is your place and finally you may enforce your regulations. determine you have different events planned for the sons and daughters - like adorning their very own cookies, or some video games, coloring, etc., so as which you would be able to re-direct their interest removed from the tree.

You could make the glass bulbs. They are easy. You have to get clear glass bulbs, acrylic paints in whatever colors you want, and an empty egg carton. Take the metal part off the bulb and squirt a little paint in it. Swirl the paint around, add the next color and continue until you have the colors that you want. Then turn the bulb over in the egg carton and let dry, some paint may run out, but that is ok. They look like they are tie died.

make soap or candles. They have all the stuff at Hobby Lobby. I was going to do it last year. And all the supplies are right there (I am a HL Employee. ha.)
Baskets with the soap (Lavender scented or whatever you prefer) then add dried lavender or another flower. Add a candy cane, and an ornament and you have a cute, creative gift.

If you are patient and handy, try making Japanese Temari balls. Go to www.temari.com and look at some of the gorgeous examples done by temari artist Diana Vandervoort. She has appeared on the Carol Duvall show on HGTV several times and she swears it is easy once you get the hang of it. They look like a million bucks and probably don't cost much to make. The base is a styrofoam ball and you can use that new metallic embroidery thread.
