I thought the definition of white lies is that it is OK to tell them. That's what the word white is doing there. Compare white and black magic.

No! that's not okay to inform any lies with regard to God basically because we assume of that's going to shake their faith and cause them to lose salvation. that's amazingly risky to inform lies about God, his personality and his approaches. The sin of a pretend prophesy is on a similar aspect as committing rape in accordance the the Jewish regulations and how they punished sin. It steals away someone's' authentic to go back to a call on between actuality and lies and makes the fellow who's telling the "little white lies" a manipulator rather of a mouthpiece getting used through God. that's not your responsibility to wager someone's' reaction when we tell them the actuality. it is your responsibility to inform it in love and with gentleness and to inform it with a similar appreciate that you may want to elect someone to inform you a perplexing actuality. besides, you do not extremely understand how someone will respond to the actuality. you're waiting to wager the reaction yet years down the line the fellow would see some thing that makes them comprehend and then they arrive back to the actuality. Or they are going to finally end up studying the actuality besides after education the falsehood for a lengthy era of time and growing very distrusting of you.

Depends on your definition of a little white lie. To me, the only situation in which the absolute truth could be stretched a bit would be to tell a person who is afraid of death, but you know that he is dieing, that he'll be okay.
The "lie" is to comfort someone else, not to cover up something about yourself.

There are no little white lies, only shades of gray.
The litmus test is whether you are telling a lie to help someone else, or to help yourself.

Sure, as long as you're not hurting anyone. I'll downplay the cost of some things to my hubby, and I know he does the same to me. We have our own checking accounts so it really doesn't matter, but we'll still do it. Never on anything big, though.

no i believe you should always tell the truth, because you will eventually get caught in the lie and then it's worse then telling the truth in the first place. honesty is the best policy.

It is probably not a could habit to get into but my rule of thumb is that if it doesn't hurt anyone, sort of victimless is okay once in awhile.

Yes...in most cases, honesty is the best policy...
but why tell the truth when you know it's going to hurt someone's feelings when it isn't needed.
