I know this guy who I think is a pathlogical liar and I just don't understand if he actually belives what he says or does it just sound good.

There is this show on Discovery Channel, called "Most Evil". It is about serial killers; and most of them are pathological liars. They did a brain scan on these serial killers; and they had major frontal lobe damage! This damage makes it easier for these people to lie, cheat and steal!! Basically, it is mild retardation!! Most pathological liars have this same kind of frontal lobe damage; of course, not all of them are cold blooded killers!! Well, let's hope not!! I hope this helped!

I believe they do. My step sons Mom lies all the time. Her step sons are 10 and they are just starting to get smart enough to figure out that she has told them a lie. Some of the lies she told us I think she had to believe or she would have gotten caught in them (by me) a lot earlier. I will never understand what my husband saw in her. I would never marry a person that lied to me.

my sister and my ex husband are both pathalogical liars...and yes i think they do believe what they say....i think that they just lie so much that they don't know what the truth is anymore!!! It is a desperate attempt to get people to like them but it usually doesn't work when everyone finds out they are lying!!!

Yep they do, My boyfriend and his mother are lovely people but both of them lie about everything in their lives even when it comes to simple things like what they are doing etc...I think sometimes they do actually believe it themselves, its eally frustrating to watch.

Sometimes, the lie will be repeated often enough that he does believe it. He needs professional help real soon or this will devour him and destroy him.
