Id love to travel for a length decent length of time, but feel leaving my job and home at 30 may prove unwise. Does anyone know of any schemes where I could earn money while experiencing another country? I notice all work visa's expire past 30 yrs old?

You are as young as you feel, 30 is not old you will regret it if you dont do it, cant you rent your home out while you are away. You might meet someone while you are travelling and not want to come back. Good Luck and you only live once!!!!

You're never too old to travel. Find someone to pay your rent for your place. Start and finish off in the EU so you can find work easily - you will be meeting other backpackers who can point you in the direcion of obtaining visas and work for non EU countries. Pay off your hostels stays by doing odd jobs for the hostel. Fly as a courier to get discounts on flights. Have a international ticket when buying domestic flights as you may get a discount there.

Well, you could just go somewhere on a tourist/ student visa and then work illegally.

Or you could try and do something for VSO, or one of the charities, or teach English, perhaps.

Yes you're far too old. Stay at work and accept your responsibilities.
