I live in the USA in the North East.

I live in the country so no municipal anything. Garbage pick up is once a week and we pay $68 per quarter for it.

You can get a great apartment (including utilities) for about $600 month.

Housing price median is $77,000 and you can get a huge house on a couple of acres of land for about $135,000.

Beer runs $1 - $3 a bottle at the bar, regardless of brand. Mixed drinks run $2.50 - $6 a drink depending on call or premium.

Roads are well plowed and salted in the Winter months. No problems there.

Low crime rate. Few murders, rapes, etc... We leave our doors unlocked and no one ever breaks in. We are armed to the teeth out here in rural America! LOL

Have made "right on red" since the late 1970s.

We have rush hour here, but never any major conjestion. There are 3 state highways running through our area, plus county & city & rural road. All are well-maintained. None are toll roads.

No subway. We have busses for mass transit. We also have a rail system running through the area.

Hartford, CT is on par with crime rate and congestion. No subway, only buses that don't take you to all the suburbs, just some. The liquor is a little more expensive, but the rent is a little less. Houses cost more, and you can also turn right on red (60% of the corners). Bus pass a little more, and the ARMY of snowplows come out, even for the lightest dusting, then the budget is used up when the big snow comes.

Bus fare- 1.50 round trip

1 bdrm- $400-500

2 bdrm- $450-600

House prices- 80,000 to 250,000+ depending on area

Beer- 1.19 a 40oz or about 4.99 for 6 pack

Low end bar- 2.50 domestic

High end bar- 4.00

No snow plows, noone can go anywhere and schools and jobs close down if there's even 1/2 inch blanket of snow.

Mid-range crime rate, a handful of homocides a year

We can make a right on red

Heavy duty traffic and people drive like crazed idiots

Never seen a subway

People are pretty friendly and like to make small talk

I dont live in a city.
i contract with a private comapny for garbage that i can replace or fire at will. no taxes.

my 3 bedroom house and land cost 80K

i dont go to bars

i dont drink beer

it doesnt snow more than an inch a year here

zero murders this year in the closest 2 citys

i can turn right on red....if i go to the city

there is a public bus system that i do not use

i have cows across the road from me and i can see they stars at night and very rarely i hear sirens in the distance.

the biggest crime here was a purse stolen from an unlocked car at night.

15 miles west from me is Killeen which has the highest craime rate in the USA for a city of its size.

the school systems in the county i live in suck

no subway/metro here. we have busses [E.C.A.T.]
Base Fare $1.50 [takes you to the military base]
Student Fare $1.50
Senior and Disabled Reduced Fare 75¢

Passes:
30-Day Pass $40.00
Senior Citizen 30-Day Pass 30.00*
Disabled 30-Day Pass 30.00*
7-Day Pass 12.50

Sounds like Orlando but without the snow..... cost of housing is alittle higher and wages are low. As long as Northerners keep flocking to Florida, wages will stay low. Employers have more help than they need.

Go West! Alberta is screaming for workers and wages are high. The alberta government actually pays residents to have natural gas hooked up in the winter. housing is high but the wages make up for it and you can actually afford to live and have some leftover for yourself.
