There are several questions here. To answer your first question, I do consider President Bush to be a good man and a good leader! Many others do also. The news media in the USA has gotten more partisan over the years, even though they claim to be neutral, and they tend to be liberal. With a conservative in office, many of the news reports make it seem like everyone is against the president, when that is not the case.
Our election times and terms of office are set in the Constitution. There is a set term for each office and the President is limited to two 4 year terms. The presidential term of office is 4 years, the Senate is 6 years and the House of Representatives has a 2 year term.
As to the idea of "saving a few more thousand lives", by protecting this country from further terrorist attacks, I think President Bush has done better than that!!
Evil must be destroyed, or it will destroy the civilized world. It is not something that can be appeased, or negotiated away.

Regardless of all the answers you have received that condemn GW, he WAS elected by the American people, BOTH times. The first one was close and the democrats demanded this recount in Florida, which was the deciding state. The democrats were trying to cheat him out of the win. The recount was accomplished and GW DID win. The recount was supervised by bipartisan officials. Since that time, the democrats have absolutely hated Bush. The democrats are basically a liberal party and some of the more prominent democrats are extreme left wingers. The bulk of the news media in the USA are controlled by left wingers so GW does not even get a fair shake from them. For 6 years, GW has suffered the abuse and condemnation of these left wing fascists but it irritates them even more when GW just seemingly ignores their insults and dirt. With all this happening, is it any wonder that he has lost popularity? He won the second election by a HUGE margin and that rubbed salt into the democrats wounds. YES, Americans like GW. It's just that Americans, who are not known for their patience, have become fed up with the fighting in Iraq, especially with all the negative slants on it that are in the news daily. That is another reason that GW has lost popularity. He has made some blunders there but they were honest ones. Anyway, we shall see what we shall see. Will the American voter vote GW's party out because the news media and the left wing fascists hate him or will they keep his party in power so the direction of the country will stay on a course that the people want?

According the polls, his approval rating is around 40%, which means the majority of Americans do not like him or what he's doing. This has happened since the last so-called election, in which he should never have been able to take office anyway. But he had too many buddies manipulating the judicial system which called the election in his favor.
Once you get a government job in America, it's nearly impossible to get fired! That includes the presidency. We can't just call another election. He would have to be impeached. Why this hasn't happened I can't tell you. Perhaps because he only has 2 more years in office and it would take almost that long for the impeachment process. All we can hope for is that the next candidate wins by a fair election process (and is a Democrat!).

I can't imagine why, but some do. They don't care that he's destroying our reputation abroad by ignoring diplomacy and plunging us into war at every turn, that he is giving away our parks to his oil buddies, that he implements programs like "No Child Left Behind," and requires the states to meet those standards, yet doesn't give them any funding for it. He'd rather spend our money fighting in Iraq, even though it's unpopular and it has turned into another Vietnam. He has a corrupt administration (Look at the current head of the FDA, who lied about holding stock in the very companies he's supposed to be regulating), and he would rather listen to his yes-men than an unbiased outsider--notice how he tries to keep promoting underlings, even when they don't have experience, like the member of his staff who had never been a judge he wanted to appoint to a federal judgeship?

In the U.S., presidential elections are scheduled every 4 years, not like in England, Australia, etc, where the party in power can call for elections early. Bush's lower popularity rating in his second term is not unusual. One of the lowest ever was Jimmy Carter. Of course his was so low he failed to get elected to a second term.

Wish we could call an early election, but unless Congress impeaches him we are stuck. And congress isn't going to try it this close to THEIR election.
GWB was elected the first time due to his brother, Jeb the governer of Florida, made sure enough demorcatis votes disappeared or were disqualified to give George the state.
He won the second time due to smear campaigns that showed Kerri, an decorated Vietnam Vet, as a coward and a cheat. Even though Bush went AWOL from is National Guard unit and smoked cocaine.
So now we can do nothing but complain and wait until 2008. My apologies to the rest of the world for our American mass stupidity.

Yes. I believe that all the hatred for Bush is payback for the impeachment of the libs' golden boy Clinton. We proved Clinton lied, so they say Bush lied. We impeached Clinton, so now they want to impeach Bush. Never mind that he's doing what's right for the country. It's all about them.

You've read the wrong things; mostly the views of liberalist whackos and whining douchebags like yourself who can't see the big picture. He has the support of the majority, regardless of media polls asked of specific target groups. Can't your cuntry mind it's own business and jail idiots like you? Stay the hell out of American affairs, candy-a'ss.

He is in power because of a coup! He lost the vote and still is in power. The only way to remove him until 2008 is to impeach him, a process no one wants, is very disruptive, and would likely lead to violence and/or social upheaval. Most of us would like to save those lives, but cannot act until the next election.
