IT DOESN'T EVEN SAY THAT THEY WERE LIVING TOGETHER.
JUST THAT LITTLE JEAN'S PARENTS WERE GETTING MARRIED.
THE UNMARRIED DJ RELIZES WHAT THE DAY REALLY MENT. THE LITTLE GIRLS PRAYERS WERE FINALLY ANSWERED BY HER MOMMA MARRYING HER DAD.
AND THE SAD CONFUSION , MANY YEARS OF TEARS THE LITTLE GIRL HAD SPENT WERE FINALLY OVER SO THE GUESTS WERE TELLING HER TO DANCE, THIS DAY IS FOR HER.

I get the impression they were never married because the writer of the song saysv:I played a wedding for the money,
and I wished that I could tell the bride and groom
Just what I thought of marriage
And what's in store after their honeymoon.
To me, that would mean that they have no knowledge of what may happen after they marry. If they had been divorced at one time, the writer would have no reason to make that comment...

I would think after living together for some time.In the chorus "a dream that you had was answered today your mom is marrying your dad".
