This questions is brought up on a daily basis, and I don't think anyone can dispute that a majority of Americans (who are on Yahoo! Answers, anyway) are obnoxius and ignorant.
It is always "we are the strongest", "we are the best", "everyone wants to move here" and so on. Most don't recognize how interdependent Europe and USA are economically and culturally. If the economy in USA collapse, the same would happen to Europe.
As a place to live, it will always be arguable where it is the absolute best place to live, though there are studies of which major city is the best place to live (Which are something like Vienna, Melbourne, Helsinki and places like that), so you can look that up.
I have never understood why some Americans claim the socialist model is all bad. It has certainly many benefits if applied in a way to support the economy, and not undercut it. The Northern European countries are doing this, and Finland for example, ranks higher in studies of how attractive it is to invest ther than USA. And the Finnish people certainly have more benefits/rights than the Americans.

Well now, it seems to me that most Europeans have the right to have any opinion they wish. It will not be long until "most" Europeans are going to be practicing the Islamic religion,WHETHER THEY WANT TO OR NOT. The best WHAT in the world? We certainly think we have the best form of government and as many or more freedoms than any other nation. We Americans have an opinion of most Europeans too. We have much respect for the UK, much disdain and contempt for the french, pity for the remainder of the European nations.

i'm a white American, i don't drink, and mutually as I know that soccer(futbol) is the main standard game interior the international, i come across it uninteresting, the consistent over-acted dives are frankly embarrassing to observe, The play isn't aggressive adequate for my tastes. yet you're top, it does look that every time the international Cup rolls around, you pay attention further and extra human beings all of sudden take passing interest interior the sport.

We are the same as anybody else but we do have the best system in the world. I think Europeans are mostly socialist at this point and have all the government entitlements so you are taken care of from cradle to grave. I see that in France if you get a job you cant be fired from it no matter how incompetent you are. What do you think would happen to the European economy if Americans quite buying your products. It would collapse.

I'm not sure us Europeans think that at all, it is certainly what the yanks think of themselves but remember this Europe is the cradle of civilization and founded everything the world is built on. The US on the other hand is a fairly young country and I equate it to a teenager, always looking for an argument, never wrong and capable of going either way either coming round and maturing or becoming a loser. On current evidence it looks like it will be a loser or as the yanks call it, Trailer Trash.

I hate this stigma. I studied abroad in England while in college. I felt like some Europeans thought we are obnoxious and loud. I personally find a lot of Americans obnoxious too!!!! Just know that it is not everyone who feels this way...the Americans that think they are the best are narrow minded and closed to other cultures.

Wow! All this national pride all of a sudden--where did it come from? Not all Americans think they are the best--in fact, I think some of our BS foreign policies suck--in that we are suckers--give give give--and give some more when we should be fixing our own problems! I'd like to let other nations take the lead in disasters. The world perceives us as arrogant because we are always "there"...............but that does deserve some bragging rights--don't you think?

The best what?
There are a lot of things to be proud of in America. Freedom of speech, free enterprise , public education, social welfare programs, public roads that can take you anywhere your heart desires, the ability to be anything you want to be in America with hard work.
I don't think we Americans think anything like that at all, as an American I feel blessed to have been born and raised here in U.S.A.

Well judging from the answers there seems to be 17 rednecks who chant USA at wreslting matches for every 3 well thought out person. Anybody who thinks they are better than anyone else, including politically, shows a serious flaw in their personality.
Saying that I have quite a few Canadian friends who are just as obnoxious and what about the royal family?
At least the US doesn't have a mascot, or does dubbya count?
