No, a car isn't supposed to shake at ANY speed.

Do this: While sitting still rev the motor up to around the mentioned speed. Does it shake? If so, it is something to do with the motor. If NOT, it in the rest of the running gear.

Are your tires in good balance? Take the car to someone other than the dealer and let them check the balance.

Does the PT Cruiser have a drive shaft? In other words is it a rear wheel drive vehicle? If so, the drive shaft could be out of balance or or bent.

A tire might have a hard spot in it that was caused in the manufacture.

If the car is a front wheel drive, have a mechanic jack up the front end and run the engine, in gear, up to 40-45 mph. Does it shake? If is DOES the problem is in the front end. IF it doesn't, the problem is in the rear wheels or tires.

IF it is a rear wheel drive, have a mechanic jack up the rear of the vehicle and run the engine, in gear, up to between 40 and 45. Does it shake? If it does the problem is in the rear end. IF it does not, it in the front end area.

You just have to go step by step and elimination to find some problems. However, you DO need to find it!!

In my experience I would go with: !. Tire/wheel out of balance. 2. a bad drive shaft, OR a CVC joint if it is a front wheel drive. 3. A bad tire (knotty). Good luck. Pops

something wrong in the steering or tire balance, there are 2 rubber mounts on the frame where the a-frame connects that wear out at 60 to 70k miles. I'm 6'2 and I can't even start to reach the key with my knee LOLOLOL

No, it's not normal for it to shake like that. They just can't find the problem so they're telling you it's normal.

As for the key thing, I highly doubt it, but almost anything is possible. Let's just say it would be a 1-in-a-million thing...
